The golden look appeared in her March 2026 Vanity Fair cover shoot; two months later, she wore bleached brows again at the Met Gala as part of a separate, deliberately surreal fashion concept.
Why Kylie Jenner’s brows looked so different
Eyebrows frame the eyes and help define facial expression. When their color is muted, the contrast around the eyes changes and the brow itself can seem to disappear, making the face read differently even when the change is limited to one feature. Coverage of Jenner’s Vanity Fair spring 2026 cover shoot described her normally dark-brown brows as bleached and nearly invisible in some images, a shift that made her appearance strikingly unfamiliar. The golden-brow look in the Vanity Fair shoot
The “golden” description fits the lightened brow look seen in the cover-shoot coverage. With the dark brow color softened, Jenner’s familiar facial framing was less prominent, creating a more dramatic, editorial effect. This was a styled appearance for the shoot, not evidence that she permanently changed her natural brow color.
How the Met Gala look was different
At the May 4, 2026 Met Gala, Jenner wore bleached brows with a Schiaparelli gown designed as a surreal illusion. The event’s theme was “Costume Art” and its dress code was “Fashion Is Art,” according to Good Morning America’s event coverage. Here, the light brows were part of a coordinated fashion and beauty concept rather than simply a repeat of the cover-shoot styling.

Jenner’s hairstylist, Iggy Rosales, said he and makeup artist Ariel Tejada tested different hair and brow directions to work with the gown. “We even tested no brows just to see how far we could push it,” Rosales told Vogue in its May 4, 2026 coverage. He described the hair direction as “tension between something sculpted and something undone.” The choice to bleach the brows helped make the final look feel intentionally otherworldly.
What happened when she tried to dye them back
After the gala, Jenner posted an attempt to dye her brows back. Marie Claire reported on May 6, 2026 that her brows appeared auburn during the process rather than their usual dark brown. That was a brief, individual anecdote; it does not establish lasting damage or predict what happens when other people color their brows.

How to create a temporary light-brow effect
For a temporary approximation, full-coverage concealer or brow gel can mute visible brow color, according to NewBeauty. Makeup can soften the brows’ appearance without committing to bleaching, but the available guidance does not establish an exact match to Jenner’s look or verify a particular product’s performance. Avoid treating this as a recommendation for at-home chemical bleaching.
