Reporting identifies seven children Richard Williams had: five with his first wife and two, Venus and Serena, with Oracene Price. A secondary report also names a son with his third wife, bringing the number of named children across those relationships to eight. That is not a verified complete lifetime count. The five daughters shown as a household in King Richard are a different count: three were Oracene’s daughters from an earlier relationship whom Richard helped raise, alongside Venus and Serena.
How many children did Richard Williams have?
The best-supported count in family reporting is five children from Richard’s first marriage and two daughters with Oracene Price. Vanity Fair’s 2021 account distinguishes Venus and Serena from Oracene’s three older daughters, whom Richard raised as his own. A 2021 Bustle article also reports a son, Dylan Starr Richard Williams, with Richard’s third wife. Counting those named children gives eight across the reported relationships, but the sources do not establish that eight is the complete total.

Bustle also attributes a claim of 15 to 19 children to Richard’s daughter Sabrina. That figure is an allegation, not an independently verified count, so it should not be treated as fact. The distinction that matters is between children Richard fathered and the larger group of daughters he helped raise.
Who were the five daughters in the family shown in King Richard?
The five daughters in the household were Venus and Serena Williams, plus Oracene’s three older daughters from a previous relationship: Yetunde, Lyndrea, and Isha Price. Richard raised those three as his own, but they were not his biological daughters. Director Reinaldo Marcus Green summarized the blended family in the Los Angeles Times: “They’re not two girls, they’re five.”

- Venus and Serena: Richard’s daughters with Oracene and the central focus of the film’s story of their childhood and tennis development.
- Yetunde Price: Oracene’s eldest daughter and an important part of the sisters’ family bond.

- Isha Price: Oracene’s daughter, a lawyer who served as an executive producer and family adviser on the film.
What happened to Richard Williams’s children?
Venus and Serena
Venus and Serena became the tennis players whose early lives and development anchor King Richard. The Washington Post describes the film as closing with Venus’s professional debut in 1994, when she was 14.
Yetunde Price
Yetunde was killed in a Compton shooting in 2003, aged 31, according to the Los Angeles Times. Isha Price told the paper that scenes involving Yetunde were painful to revisit because her memory remained integral to the sisters’ bond.

Isha and Lyndrea Price
Isha became a lawyer and helped shape the film as an executive producer and family adviser. Lyndrea worked in its costume department. The sources establish these roles but do not provide a full account of either sister’s life.
The five children from Richard’s first marriage
Vanity Fair reports that Richard had five children with his first wife. A Bustle article names them as Sabrina, Richard III, Ronner, Reluss, and Reneeka. Public reporting offers little detail about most of their later lives. Isha recalled that Richard III came to the family home and that one of his daughters lived there for a time; that limited account does not establish what happened to each sibling.

King Richard is a family-approved biographical film focused on Venus and Serena’s early lives and tennis careers, not a comprehensive account of every child Richard had. Vanity Fair reports that an earlier script referenced his five children from his first marriage and that Oracene wanted that history handled accurately. The Washington Post notes that the film ends with Venus’s professional debut, underscoring its focus on the sisters’ path into tennis.

The filmmakers and family members described Richard as a complicated person rather than a flawless hero. Screenwriter Zach Baylin told Vanity Fair, “I think that he can be a heroic person and be deeply flawed at the same time.” Isha Price told the Washington Post: “People are complicated, and they’re nuanced. They don’t always make the right decision, and they don’t always have the answer. And that’s okay.” Those are perspectives on the film’s portrayal, not a complete account of every family relationship.
