King Charles III used a pre-recorded message on Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer broadcast on 12 December 2025 to encourage cancer screening and early diagnosis. When and where the message aired
The King’s message was broadcast at 8pm on 12 December 2025 during Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer programme. Channel 4 said its purpose was to raise awareness of cancer screening and the importance of early diagnosis. ITV News reported that the message was recorded in the morning room at Clarence House during the last week of November.
Stand Up To Cancer UK is a joint national fundraising campaign run by Cancer Research UK and Channel 4. Channel 4 reported in 2025 that the campaign had raised over £113 million since its UK launch in 2012, funding 73 clinical trials and projects involving over 13,000 cancer patients nationwide. The King said that, thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and following his doctors’ orders, his cancer treatment schedule could be reduced in the new year. This was an update about a change in his treatment schedule, not an announcement of remission or a cure. The cancer type and treatment details have not been disclosed. The King’s cancer was disclosed in February 2024 after he received treatment for an enlarged prostate; ITV News reported that the cancer was not prostate cancer, but its exact type was not made public. How the Screening Checker works
Channel 4 said the campaign’s Screening Checker was designed to help people check which NHS and Northern Ireland Public Health Agency (PHA) cancer-screening programmes they may be eligible for, with advice about the process. It is a way to find relevant programme information; it does not establish a diagnosis or replace guidance from a health professional. Channel 4’s campaign announcement describes the checker.
Reported response to the message
Cancer Research UK said about 100,000 people had visited the checker since its launch on 5 December 2025, with most visits occurring after the King’s message, according to an Associated Press report published on 13 December 2025. That figure refers to checker visits, not confirmed screening appointments or tests. The AP report attributes the figure to Cancer Research UK.
