The Kinds of Kindness trailer introduces a three-part fable directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone. Rather than setting up one continuous conventional plot, it points to three distinct stories about control, a spouse’s unsettling return, and a search for a future spiritual leader.
What the trailer introduces
Searchlight calls KINDS OF KINDNESS “a triptych fable.” Its official synopsis lays out three separate premises, so the trailer is best understood as a glimpse of the film’s shifting stories—not a full explanation of how they connect or resolve.
A man trying to take control
The first story follows a man who has no choice in his life and tries to take control of it. The synopsis does not identify him by name or explain the circumstances behind that lack of choice.
A wife returns changed
In the second story, a policeman becomes alarmed when his wife returns after previously going missing at sea. She seems different to him; the official synopsis leaves the nature of that change open.
