Christy Carlson Romano said she felt “exploited and marked and horrible” after filming a nude scene, but also said she was okay and had made peace with the experience. In a 2021 video about her Disney earnings, she explained that she took the movie role for money while desperate to regain the sense of financial security she had felt when earning more.
What Christy Carlson Romano said about the scene
Romano, known for Even Stevens and for voicing Kim Possible, said she had never expected to film such a scene. As quoted by The Independent and Entertainment Tonight, she recalled: “And then I felt so exploited and marked and horrible.”

She also put that reaction in context, saying: “Obviously, I’m OK now. I promise you I’m OK. I have made peace with this.” The reports attribute these remarks to her 2021 video; they do not establish that a named person or production committed misconduct.
Why she said she took the role
Romano described her decision as financially motivated. She said: “The truth is that I did this movie for the money, because I was desperate to feel that feeling that I had when I was making tons of money and everything was OK.” Entertainment Tonight also reported her broader comments about financial literacy and taking film roles she did not want because she needed the money. That is her account of her own choices, not evidence about the experience of all child actors.

Which movie was she talking about?
The cited coverage does not identify the movie Romano meant. The Independent notes separately that she appeared nude in Mirrors 2, but does not establish that it was the film she discussed. It would therefore be inaccurate to name Mirrors 2 as the movie in her account.

Romano’s memoir, Once Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star, was reported as publishing on October 6, 2026. A Marie Claire excerpt addresses Disney Channel media training; the cited reporting does not verify whether the book discusses this particular scene.
