Kim Kardashian’s Instagram caption, “On my way to go find Kate,” was posted on March 17, 2024—five days before Catherine, Princess of Wales, announced that post-operative tests had found cancer and that she was receiving preventative chemotherapy. The Independent reported on March 24 that Kardashian’s post remained online and that she had not responded to a question about Kate at that point. Those are dated reports, not confirmation of the post’s current status or of any later response.
What Kardashian posted—and when
On March 17, 2024, Kardashian shared a photo of herself beside a car on Instagram with the caption, “On my way to go find Kate.” The post appeared amid online attention and speculation about the Princess of Wales’s absence from public life. Kardashian’s caption came before the Princess disclosed her diagnosis; the available reporting does not establish Kardashian’s intent or what she knew when she posted it.
What the Princess of Wales announced
In a video statement on March 22, Catherine said she had undergone planned major abdominal surgery in January. She explained that the condition had initially been thought non-cancerous, but post-operative tests found cancer. Her medical team advised preventative chemotherapy, and she said she was in the early stages of that treatment. She also said she and Prince William needed time to process the news and tell their children before making it public. The reporting cited here does not establish a cancer type or prognosis. The Independent’s account of the announcement reproduces her statement.
Why Kardashian faced renewed criticism
After the March 22 announcement, social-media users returned to Kardashian’s earlier post and called for it to be removed and for an apology. The disclosure changed the context in which jokes and speculation about the Princess’s absence were received; it did not change the chronology of Kardashian’s post, which had appeared five days earlier. The comments quoted in contemporaneous coverage—such as “you should really take this down” and “I think an apology is needed”—showed calls from commenters, not a measured account of what all or most followers believed. PerthNow reported on the reaction on March 23.

What was known about the post and Kardashian’s response
The Independent said the post remained on Kardashian’s official Instagram account as of March 24, 2024. It also reported that Kardashian had not answered a question about Kate at that time and that the outlet had contacted her representative. This does not establish whether the post is still available today or whether Kardashian responded later. The contemporaneous coverage documents calls for an apology, but does not establish her intent or a later response.

Blake Lively and journalist Owen Jones were also discussed in coverage of reactions to the Princess’s diagnosis, but their responses addressed their own separate remarks—not Kardashian’s caption.

| Person | What they addressed | Response reported |
|---|---|---|
| Kim Kardashian | Her March 17 caption about going to find Kate | Commenters called for removal and an apology. The Independent reported no response to a question about Kate as of March 24, 2024; a later response is not established in the cited coverage. |
| Blake Lively | A separate joke about the photo-editing controversy | She apologized, saying: “I made a silly post around the ‘photoshop fails’ frenzy and, oh, man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry.” |
| Owen Jones | His speculation about the Princess’s absence | He expressed regret, according to contemporaneous reporting. |
Lively’s apology was for her own Photoshop-related joke, not an apology on Kardashian’s behalf. TIME’s March 23 report covered apologies and regret after the announcement.
