Kim Kardashian completed six years of supervised legal study through California’s Law Office Study Program and celebrated the milestone in May 2025. The completion made her eligible to take the California bar exam; it did not make her a licensed lawyer. The latest reported update is that she took the July 2025 exam and said she did not pass.
What Kardashian completed
Kardashian marked the end of her legal apprenticeship at a private ceremony in May 2025. Her representative confirmed to the Associated Press that she had completed the program and was eligible to take California’s bar exam. That is more precise than saying she graduated from law school: the reports describe supervised study in a law office, not a conventional law-school degree.
California’s Law Office Study Program is an alternative route to legal education in which a participant studies under a lawyer or judge instead of attending law school, according to the Associated Press. Kardashian announced in April 2019 that she had enrolled with the State Bar of California in 2018 for a four-year apprenticeship supervised by a licensed California attorney, Good Morning America reported.
Her apprenticeship milestones
The first-year exam
Good Morning America reported that Kardashian passed California’s First-Year Law Students’ Examination, commonly called the “baby bar,” in 2021, on her fourth attempt.

Six years of study
Attorney and mentor Jessica Jackson told Good Morning America that Kardashian studied 18 hours a week for 48 weeks a year over six years, for a total of 5,184 hours. That figure is Jackson’s reported calculation, not an independently audited tally.
The MPRE
The Los Angeles Times reported that Kardashian passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) in March 2025. Passing that exam was one reported milestone; it was not the California bar exam or a law license.

Is Kim Kardashian a lawyer now?
No. Completing the apprenticeship made her eligible to sit for the California bar exam, but eligibility is not admission to practice. In November 2025, The Daily Beast reported that Kardashian said she had taken the July 2025 bar exam and had not passed. She wrote, “Six years into this law journey and I’m still all in until I pass the bar.” In the same report, she described herself as “not a lawyer yet. I just play a very well-dressed one on TV.”
This is the latest reported exam outcome available here; it does not establish whether she has taken another attempt or her present licensing status. The Daily Beast’s November 2025 account is the basis for the July exam result.

Reports described a private ceremony celebrating completion of the Law Office Study Program, not graduation from a conventional law school. The distinction matters because completing legal study and becoming licensed are separate steps. As of the May 2025 reports, Kardashian had completed the apprenticeship and was eligible to take the bar; the November update says she did not pass the July 2025 exam.
