SBS’s special documentary Kim Hye-ja’s Greeting—Please Don’t Die (김혜자의 안부-죽지 마세요) connects the actor’s long career with her humanitarian work as a World Vision goodwill ambassador. Rather than offering only a career retrospective, it follows her Africa volunteer work and recent acting, asking how care and hope can help someone keep going.
What the documentary is about
The film brings together Kim Hye-ja’s experiences as an actor and her sustained involvement in humanitarian work. SBS describes a personal journey shaped by wounds and uncertainty, encounters with people facing hardship in Africa, and a continuing commitment to sharing. The documentary’s central question is how one person’s sincere care can give another person a reason to live. SBS’s announcement

Yonhap reports that “Please don’t die” is a message Kim conveyed through both her Africa volunteer work and acting. It is the documentary’s recurring appeal, not simply a summary of her screen career. Yonhap’s report
How her career and humanitarian work meet
The documentary pairs recollections from colleagues with Kim’s present-day work, according to iMBC. Its focus therefore moves between the legacy of a long acting career and the choices she continues to make beyond the screen. iMBC’s coverage
#1 Best Overall
SBS says the project began with an internal World Vision idea contest in 2024. The production followed Kim’s final Africa volunteer trip in 2025 and her acting work in 2026 on Still Radiant; SBS describes the reporting period as three years. These details place the documentary across distinct stages of her work, rather than within a single trip or a conventional retrospective. SBS’s announcement Yonhap’s report
What the title and reported appeals mean
The Korean phrase “죽지 마세요” means “Please don’t die.” Yonhap attributes that message to Kim’s long-running volunteer and acting work. The reports also preserve two related but distinct formulations: SBS’s headline quotes her as saying “Don’t make me a hero; use me,” while Yonhap reports her appeal as “Use me to spread hope.” They frame her role as a means of drawing attention to people in need, rather than as a story about personal heroism.
