At a late-August and early-September 2023 hearing, Baumgartner was asked whether Connor was her boyfriend. She answered, “No,” according to Entertainment Tonight’s report. She acknowledged receiving $20,000 from him and testified that it was a loan. She said she had given half to her mother and intended to repay the remainder.
Costner’s filing characterized Connor as Baumgartner’s boyfriend and described the payment in that context. That was Costner’s allegation, not a finding by the judge. Baumgartner’s testimony was that Connor was a friend and the money was a loan; the reported accounts do not establish that she admitted to having a boyfriend or that the payment was a gift.

The court also required Costner to cover specified expenses for the children, including health care, private school and extracurricular activities. So the $63,209 figure was not the complete measure of every child-related cost he was ordered to pay.
Why did the judge lower the support amount?
The dispute included competing arguments about Costner’s income and how much his unusually high earnings from Yellowstone should influence the support calculation. Entertainment Tonight reported that Costner’s accountants calculated his average monthly cash flow for the 30 months ending June 30, 2023, in two ways:

Those are figures attributed to Costner’s accountants in a 2023 report, not a statement of his current finances. The judge’s reported rationale focused on the competing support theories. In the written-summary language quoted by Entertainment Tonight, Anderle said the requested formula “shows the application of the formula would be unjust and inappropriate in this case.” The outlet also reported his assessment that Costner’s “theory of the case preponderates.” That describes the judge’s view of the competing case presentations; it is not a finding that Baumgartner was dishonest.
What did “loses big” mean in the headline?
It refers to the difference between the cash-support amount Baumgartner sought at the later hearing—$161,000 per month—and the $63,209 monthly order. It is a description of the financial result relative to her request, not a legal conclusion that she committed wrongdoing. The additional specified child expenses were separate from the monthly base-support figure.

How did the divorce end?
Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023 after nearly 19 years of marriage. The couple shares three children. In September 2023, the parties announced a settlement and avoided a scheduled December trial; the settlement details were not immediately disclosed, according to the Associated Press.
