Kenya Moore’s response to her Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16 suspension changed over time. In June 2024, she denied distributing or soliciting private images and said she was “not going anywhere.” Months later, after the episode showing the poster-board incident aired, she apologized for the prank and said she had escalated because she felt her child was being threatened.
What led to the RHOA suspension?
The controversy stemmed from a scene filmed at the June 6, 2024, grand opening of Moore’s Kenya Moore Hair Spa in Atlanta. In a June 14 report, Entertainment Tonight cited an unnamed source who said Moore allegedly depicted castmate Brittany Eady performing a sexual act using images allegedly found online. ET said the network was reviewing the content shown during filming.

That account was attributed to an anonymous source; it was not an adjudicated finding about the images’ origin or ownership. ET also quoted an unnamed source close to the show denying that Moore was threatened with a weapon or that a weapon was present during production.
What did Kenya Moore say in June?
On June 14, ET reported that Moore had been suspended indefinitely from filming season 16 while the network reviewed the displayed content. The report, including the suspension details, relied on an unnamed source. It said Eady and the rest of the ensemble continued filming.

That day, Moore said on Instagram Live: “I’m not going anywhere, despite all the stuff surrounding whatever… people want to write.” She also posted a denial: “I would never engage in revenge porn, I have never distributed private images or footage of anyone, nor solicited images owned by others to use to threaten or blackmail.” ET reproduced her statements in its report on her initial response.
On June 26, the Los Angeles Times reported that Moore would not appear in season 16, citing TMZ for the parties’ separation. The Times said Bravo declined to comment when contacted. The available reporting therefore does not support presenting the June suspension or departure as a public announcement from Bravo.

What did the season 16 episode show?
A later-aired episode showed Moore bringing out a board labeled “Who Is This Ho?” with blurred explicit images. As recounted by The Independent, Moore said she had obtained the images with an investigator’s help; the other women objected and left. The broadcast establishes what viewers saw and what Moore said in the scene, not independent verification of who made, found, or supplied the images.
The episode ended with a title card: “Based on Kenya’s behavior, the decision was made to cease filming with her this season.” That on-screen wording explains the show’s stated decision in the episode; it does not establish the images’ provenance.

What was Moore’s later apology?
In a November 14, 2024, interview with Tamron Hall, Moore apologized for the prank. TVLine reported that she explained her escalation by saying: “I’ve never had a child and been in a situation like this before. So that’s why I escalated it, to the point where I was protecting not only myself but my child.” TVLine’s account of the interview presents this as Moore’s later explanation, following her June denial.
Her November apology did not erase or replace what she said in June: first she denied distributing or soliciting private images, then she later apologized for taking the prank too far and described feeling protective of her child.
