By Dave Meltzer’s reported star ratings, Kenny Omega’s highest-rated match is his 2018 NJPW Dominion bout with Kazuchika Okada, commonly listed at seven stars. The ten matches below are a rating-led selection, not an objective measure of quality: Meltzer’s ratings are subjective, and the available compilations do not agree on every figure. The list includes reported ratings above five stars, including a 2026 Omega–Will Ospreay match that changes the current ranking.
How this ranking works
“Best” here means highest-rated by Dave Meltzer, not a definitive judgment of which match every fan should prefer. The figures below come from secondary reporting and databases rather than a directly accessible Wrestling Observer ratings archive. Where a source is identified, its reported figure is retained rather than presented as a reconciled official record.
For context, Meltzer’s traditional five-star scale has been exceeded in these reports. The ordering is descending by the reported rating; matches with equal ratings are grouped together, not ranked against one another.

Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada — NJPW Dominion 6.9 (2018): 7 stars
This is the reported peak of Omega’s ratings and the best-known entry in the Okada series. Some databases give this match a different figure: Ring History lists 6.75 stars, while other summaries report seven. The seven-star figure is therefore best read as the widely reported rating, not an uncontested number. Ring History and secondary match databases provide rating records.

Kota Ibushi vs. Kenny Omega — NJPW G1 Climax 28, Night 18 (2018): 5.5 stars
This 2018 tournament match completes the ten-match working list at 5.5 stars. It is one of several highly rated NJPW singles bouts involving Omega and wrestlers central to his career. 2021 Reddit compilation
Why the list can differ between sources
The exact order depends on which rating record a list uses and when it was compiled. Ring History reports the 2018 Dominion Omega–Okada match at 6.75 stars, whereas other summaries call it seven. The 2021 community count of ten Omega matches above five stars predates the reported 2026 Omega–Ospreay rating, so it is a historical count rather than a current total. These differences are why the list names the reporting source where available instead of treating every number as settled.
Other five-star Omega matches worth knowing
A five-star match is not the same as a match reported above five stars. IWNerd’s compilation identifies these additional Omega bouts at five stars, so they are notable honorable mentions but do not displace the ten entries ranked above by their reported higher ratings:
