The Wookiee Jedi in The Acolyte is Kelnacca, and Marvel announced a one-shot centered on him: Star Wars: The Acolyte – Kelnacca #1. The May 31, 2024 announcement named Cavan Scott as writer and Marika Cresta as interior artist, with a release date of September 4, 2024.
What is the Kelnacca comic about?
The one-shot was presented as a link between the publishing stories of The High Republic and the events of The Acolyte. Scott said the story would explore the meaning of Kelnacca’s distinctive tattoos and a Padawan’s struggle with a master. In an interview with io9, Scott described the tattoos as “one of the most intriguing aspects of Kelnacca’s design.”
Scott also said he was excited to connect The Acolyte to the High Republic era built through comics, books, audio and animation. The announcement describes the intended connection, but does not lay out the comic’s full plot.
