She said the medication was not Ozempic, but did not publicly name it in the reports covered here. A January 2025 update revisited those earlier comments; it does not establish that a new health transformation happened that year.
What Kelly Clarkson said about losing weight
In a January 2024 interview with People, later quoted in GMA coverage, Clarkson described listening to her doctor after not doing so for a couple of years. “I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t,” she said. She also described her diet as “a healthy mix” with a focus on protein, and called walking around New York City a workout.
Those are details from her account, not a controlled explanation of what caused a particular amount of weight loss. The reporting does not establish how much each element contributed or provide a medical assessment of her health.
Did Kelly Clarkson use Ozempic?
Clarkson said she took a medication recommended by her doctor, and said it was not Ozempic. In a May 2024 conversation with Whoopi Goldberg, she said her doctor had urged her to take medication for about two years. She had been afraid to do so because of thyroid problems, she explained.

Clarkson described the medication as something “that aids in helping break down the sugar, which obviously my body doesn’t do well.” She did not name it in the May 2024 GMA report or in the January 2025 Women’s Health retrospective cited here. Its identity should not be inferred from that description: no specific drug beyond Ozempic is established by these reports.
What she shared about prediabetes and her weight
Retrospective coverage reports that Clarkson told her show audience in January 2024 she had been told she was prediabetic. That is her reported diagnosis; it is not evidence that she had type 2 diabetes.

Women’s Health’s January 14, 2025 update recounted Clarkson’s reported highest weight as 203 pounds. GMA reported that she was over 200 pounds at the time she discussed her health in May 2024. These are personal figures reported in coverage, not independently verified measurements or a statement of her current weight.
Diet, walking, sauna and cold plunge: what is established?
Food and walking
Clarkson said she followed her doctor’s advice, ate a healthy mix with a protein focus and walked in the city. The reports do not provide a detailed meal plan, exercise schedule or evidence that isolates the effects of any one change.

Infrared sauna and cold plunge
Clarkson also mentioned interest in infrared saunas and using a cold plunge. That does not show either practice caused her weight loss. Healthline’s expert commentary says evidence for sauna or cold-plunge weight-loss claims is limited; a short-term drop on the scale after sauna use may reflect water loss rather than fat loss.
