Keith Urban performed Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” at a private Mar-a-Lago party hosted by Australian businessman Anthony Pratt on November 15, 2025. President Donald Trump attended, according to reports based on social-media video, but the reporting does not show that Trump booked Urban or requested the song.
What happened at the Mar-a-Lago party?
Urban’s performance took place at a private event hosted by Pratt. Us Weekly reported on November 17 that footage posted on Instagram showed Urban singing “Pink Pony Club” and Bob Marley’s “Is This Love,” with Trump in attendance. Fox News reported the following day that videos posted by Florida real estate agent Tali Israel showed the performances and that Trump was seated next to Pratt.
The reports identify Pratt as the host and Trump as an attendee. They do not establish that Trump hosted the event or commissioned Urban’s performance. Fox News; Us Weekly.
Why did Keith Urban sing “Pink Pony Club”?
Urban has previously spoken warmly about the song, but no statement in the reports explains why he chose it for this particular private event. Fox News and Us Weekly reported that, during an April 2025 appearance on the Canadian web series Intimate and Interactive, Urban described its appeal in terms of belonging: “Who doesn’t want to find a safe place, wherever that is? You just want to find your people — doesn’t matter what that is, just somewhere where you finally realize you belong there,” he said. “God, that speaks to me.”

Us Weekly also reported that Urban recalled his first listen by saying, “When I heard that song, I just almost cried.” These earlier remarks show his personal response to the song; they do not establish a political message or explain his choice at Pratt’s party.
What is “Pink Pony Club” about?
“Pink Pony Club” is a song on Chappell Roan’s 2023 album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Us Weekly describes it as telling the story of finding community in a West Hollywood gay bar. Its themes of finding a place to belong help explain Urban’s comments about the song, but do not settle what he intended by performing it at this event.
