Kevin Perez, the Bronx rapper known as Kay Flock, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on December 16, 2025, in a racketeering case. The sentence, imposed by U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman, also includes five years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
What Kay Flock was convicted of
A jury convicted Perez in March 2025 of racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in aid of racketeering, and a firearm-discharge offense, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in its sentencing announcement. Those convictions—not simply his identity as a recording artist—are the basis for describing the case as a federal racketeering prosecution.
What the case involved
The government described Sev Side/DOA as a Bronx-based gang and presented evidence at trial about shootings and other conduct. The indictment, filed in 2023, alleged that Perez and others were part of an organization operating principally in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. Those charging claims are allegations; they should not be treated as jury findings unless they correspond to the offenses on which Perez was convicted. The indictment sets out the government’s allegations, while the sentencing announcement summarizes the convictions and the government’s account of trial evidence.
What the judge said at sentencing
The Justice Department’s announcement quoted Judge Liman saying Perez “taunted, celebrated, and created a culture of violence” and that the harm he caused “was immense.” The statement was part of the judge’s sentencing remarks, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Sentencing-day context
The Associated Press reported that prosecutors had sought a 50-year sentence and the defense had asked for the 10-year mandatory minimum. Those requests were not the sentence imposed: Judge Liman sentenced Perez to 30 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. AP also reported remarks by Perez and the judge at the hearing.
What is and is not established about release
The sentence is 30 years, but that figure alone does not establish a projected release date. The available sentencing announcement and coverage do not provide sentence-credit calculations or a release projection. They also do not establish the outcome of any later appeal or post-sentencing motion.
