Lily Tomlin officiated, and Griffin later filed for divorce in December 2023; The Daily Beast reported that the divorce was finalized in January 2025.
When did Kathy Griffin marry Randy Bick?
The couple married early on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2020. Griffin announced the surprise shortly beforehand in a video filmed in her foyer, according to the Los Angeles Times. The ceremony itself took place in her living room.
Who officiated, and what was the ceremony like?
Actor and comedian Lily Tomlin officiated. Tomlin’s wife, Jane Wagner, was also present. Griffin shared video of the ceremony on social media. In her wedding-day post, quoted by ABC News, Griffin wrote: “We promised you atypical. We are in love and we cannot stop laughing. Thank you @LilyTomlin and Jane Wagner! #HappyNewYear”
Tomlin opened the ceremony by saying, “We are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Randy Bick and Kathy Griffin,” the Times reported. Tomlin’s script also included a joke about the couple’s relationship; it was part of the ceremony’s humor, not a separate account of their history.
