“The constant exploitation of women with no recourse for these websites is absolutely abhorrent.”

What the report says about the lawsuit
The August 23, 2017 report said McPhee told PEOPLE that her private photographs had been published on websites after she was hacked. It also reported, based on court documents, that she filed suit in Los Angeles County and sought unspecified damages and injunctive relief.
The report describes allegations and requested remedies; it does not establish a court finding or what happened in the case afterward. It does not identify a technical method of access or establish who was responsible.

Why her response focused on publication
McPhee’s reported objection was not simply about whether photographs were hers. She criticized websites that publish stolen images and the lack of recourse available to women whose images are exploited, then called for laws to change. Her statement is about consent, publication, and accountability—not an invitation to find or view the images.
