It was the fullest combination identified in the coverage reviewed here, not a new 2026 debut. Her earlier four-ring look at Wimbledon in July 2025 included her sapphire engagement ring, Welsh gold wedding band and two eternity rings.
When did Catherine wear the five-ring combination?
Tatler and Town & Country reported that Catherine wore five rings at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral on September 16, 2025. Town & Country’s account appeared the following day. Their coverage makes that funeral the reported first appearance of the fullest stack in these reports. The sources do not establish a newer 2026 debut.
The combination followed a four-ring appearance at Wimbledon on July 12, 2025. Glamour reported that she wore the engagement ring, Welsh gold wedding band and two eternity rings together at the tournament. Earlier coverage had noted a sapphire-and-diamond eternity band in 2024, including in a video announcing that she had completed chemotherapy.
What rings were in the five-ring stack?
The reports describe a blend of the familiar engagement and wedding rings with eternity bands and a less clearly identified additional band. Some details are attributed with confidence; others remain reported descriptions or speculation rather than confirmed provenance.

| Ring | What reporting says |
|---|---|
| Sapphire engagement ring | Associated with Princess Diana, who wore it before Prince William proposed with it. Tatler describes an oval-cut Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 14 round diamonds; ELLE, Tatler and Vogue report the sapphire weighs 12 carats. These are published jewelry specifications, not an independent appraisal. |
| Wedding band | A Welsh gold band. |
| Sapphire-and-diamond eternity band | Reported as an addition first seen in 2024. Some coverage believes it is Cartier’s Étincelle de Cartier band; the identification is not confirmed. |
| Diamond eternity band | Often described as a gift from Prince William after the birth of Prince George in 2013. The couple has not confirmed that gifting history in the reporting cited here. |
| Additional thin band | Town & Country described an unidentified platinum band as the fifth ring in the September 2025 combination. |
Town & Country also reported that G. Collins & Sons created the eternity bands. That attribution does not establish the maker or history of every ring in the stack.
How did the Wimbledon and funeral stacks differ?
| Appearance | Reported ring count | Reported combination |
|---|---|---|
| Wimbledon, July 12, 2025 | Four | Sapphire engagement ring, Welsh gold wedding band and two eternity rings, according to Glamour. |
| Duchess of Kent’s funeral, September 16, 2025 | Five | The familiar engagement and wedding rings and eternity bands, plus an unidentified platinum band in Town & Country’s account. |
This is a comparison of two reported appearances, not evidence that Catherine adopted a permanent five-ring set. Tatler noted in December 2025 that she varied which rings she wore.

What the stack suggests about styling—and what it does not
The visible combination shows one way to layer eternity bands with engagement and wedding rings. British Vogue quoted Lylie Jewellery founder Eliza Walter: “We’re increasingly seeing clients choose to style their eternity ring stacked with their engagement ring and wedding band, or wear it alone for a more relaxed look.” That is a jeweler’s observation about clients, not evidence of Catherine’s private reason for wearing these rings.
Angie Kennedy, Zales vice president of merchandising, told ELLE: “The fact that all her bands sit flush and seamless shows her attention to design, but the symbolism behind each piece is what makes her stack trendsetting.” The reported ring histories do not establish the Princess’s personal intentions, and some band attributions remain uncertain.

Can you identify or find the exact rings?
The sapphire-and-diamond eternity band is sometimes believed to be Cartier’s Étincelle de Cartier, but the reports cited do not confirm that identification. The platinum band in Town & Country’s account is unidentified. A sapphire-accented eternity ring can serve as a general styling reference, but a lookalike listing should not be represented as Catherine’s ring, a confirmed Cartier piece or an exact replica.
