Coverage of a beach video shared for Prince Louis’s eighth birthday has prompted reports that the Prince and Princess of Wales recently took a family holiday in Cornwall, possibly on the Isles of Scilly. The location and trip are reported or inferred, not confirmed by an official itinerary.
Where did the Wales family reportedly go?
Marie Claire’s April 23, 2026 report linked the possible holiday to a birthday video showing Prince Louis playing on a beach and jumping into the water. The outlet said people familiar with the area identified the scenery as the Isles of Scilly, off Cornwall’s coast. That makes the islands a reported likely setting, not a confirmed destination.
The report suggested a holiday based on the video and the family’s quiet schedule. It did not establish when the family travelled, how long they stayed, or a verified itinerary.
What is known about Tresco and Dolphin House?
The same report describes Tresco as a favored destination for the Wales family and Dolphin House as their reported regular accommodation. Those descriptions provide context for why Tresco was mentioned, but they do not show that the family stayed there on this particular trip. No accommodation for the reported holiday is confirmed in the account.

How does this differ from their earlier reported holidays?
Other widely reported family trips took place in different years and should not be treated as evidence of the current trip’s location or arrangements:
- French Alps, 2016: The Guardian reported on family photographs released after a holiday. A Kensington Palace spokesperson described it as the family’s first holiday as a family of four and the children’s first time playing in snow. The Guardian’s report concerned that separate trip.
- Mustique, 2019: Vogue reported on a holiday on the Caribbean island based on multiple reports. That coverage is also separate from the possible Cornwall-area holiday.
Why is privacy part of the story?
Privacy concerns have arisen in coverage of other family holidays, but they should not be conflated with this reported trip. In October 2025, a French court ruled against Paris Match over photographs from a separate family skiing holiday. The Associated Press quoted a Kensington Palace statement: “The Prince and Princess of Wales are committed to protecting their private family time and ensuring that their children can grow up without undue scrutiny and interference.” The AP report addressed that case, not the possible Isles of Scilly holiday.
