Kate Middleton and Prince William’s “first appearance together in a month” took place on November 9, 2025, at the National Service of Remembrance in London. The phrase referred to their joint public schedule—not a month-long private absence—and the appearance came days after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lost his “Prince” title and “Royal Highness” style.
The appearance took place on November 9, 2025
Kate Middleton, formally Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Prince William appeared together at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London on Sunday, November 9, 2025. The service was the couple’s first widely reported joint public appearance in roughly a month, which is what contemporaneous coverage meant by “first time in a month.”
It did not mean that William and Catherine had been completely absent from public life, or that they had not seen each other privately. Nor should the headline be read as describing a current August 2026 event. It was a description of the Waleses’ public schedule in the weeks immediately before Remembrance Sunday.
What happened at the Remembrance events?
The public sequence began on Saturday, November 8, when Catherine attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall with senior members of the royal family. William was not present because he was returning from Brazil after engagements connected with the Earthshot Prize.

The following day, William and Catherine were both present for the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph. The official Court Circular records the royal roles clearly:
- King Charles III laid a wreath at the Cenotaph.
- Prince William laid a wreath in his role as heir to the throne.
- Catherine watched the ceremony from the Foreign Office balcony alongside Queen Camilla.
The service is an established annual ceremony on Whitehall honoring Britain’s war dead and members of the armed forces. The royal family’s participation follows a formal order of precedence rather than an informal family appearance, which is why the event carried both ceremonial and institutional importance.
Why the joint appearance attracted so much attention
The couple’s appearance came during one of the monarchy’s most difficult public periods in 2025. On October 30, Buckingham Palace announced that a formal process had begun to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s styles, titles and honours. The announcement also said that he would leave Royal Lodge in Windsor.
On November 3, Letters Patent removed Andrew’s entitlement to the style “Royal Highness” and the titular dignity of “Prince.” After that change, he should be referred to as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor rather than Prince Andrew when discussing events after November 2025. The action came amid continuing reputational fallout from his association with Jeffrey Epstein and concern about the damage to the monarchy’s standing.

That timing gave the Cenotaph appearance an obvious backdrop. Charles was carrying out the monarch’s wreath-laying duty, William was performing the principal role expected of the heir, and Catherine and Camilla appeared together on the balcony. Seen as a whole, the ceremony presented the senior working members of the royal family continuing with a longstanding national duty despite the upheaval surrounding Andrew.
What is confirmed—and what remains interpretation
The official record confirms who attended the ceremony and what roles they performed. It does not confirm that the appearance was deliberately staged as a response to Andrew’s title removal, or that the palace intended it as a public message to him.
Some reports attributed claims about Queen Camilla’s and Catherine’s support for Charles’s decision to unnamed or speculative sources. Those claims should not be presented as established fact. There is no official source confirming that Catherine personally demanded, approved or orchestrated the removal process.
The more defensible conclusion is narrower: the Waleses’ joint appearance provided a highly visible picture of continuity at a moment when the institution was dealing with a serious reputational crisis. That interpretation is supported by the timing and the public symbolism of the ceremony, but it is still analysis rather than a confirmed statement of palace motive.

How Forest Lodge fits into the story
The headline’s reference to the couple’s “big move” concerned Forest Lodge in Windsor. Contemporary reporting described Forest Lodge as the Wales family’s new long-term home, while a 2025 UK Parliament research briefing listed the property as leased to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Forest Lodge and Royal Lodge are separate residences. Royal Lodge had been leased to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, while Forest Lodge was identified as the Wales family residence. The proximity of the two properties made the housing story especially newsworthy, but there is no basis for saying that William and Catherine moved into Royal Lodge or that Andrew’s departure automatically transferred that property to them.
“Forever home” and “forever house” are media or promotional descriptions, not a formal palace title for Forest Lodge. The available evidence supports calling it the Wales family’s long-term Windsor residence, while leaving the precise length and terms of the arrangement to the documented lease information.
The poppy and the meaning of the ceremony
Catherine’s dark clothing and poppy fitted the traditions of Remembrance Sunday. The Royal British Legion explains that the poppy became associated with remembrance of those killed in the First World War and was later connected with remembrance of service personnel lost in subsequent conflicts.

That symbolism can be discussed confidently at the level of the ceremony and the poppy tradition. It is more speculative to identify a particular brooch or claim that a specific item carried a private message. The exact brooch Catherine wore at the 2025 service was not independently verified in the research available for this report.

The November 2025 appearance was not followed by a sustained disappearance from public life. Official royal records show Catherine undertaking engagements in June 2026, including a visit to the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. William continued work connected with the Homewards programme and other public initiatives.
The couple also appeared together at the Guards Polo Club on July 10, 2026, and attended Wimbledon events in July. Those later appearances matter because they prevent the 2025 headline from being treated as evidence of a continuing separation, political isolation or withdrawal from royal duties.
In other words, the “month” in the headline belongs to a specific period of joint public visibility before November 9, 2025. It was not a prediction about the couple’s future schedule.

A useful way to read the headline today
The most accurate reading is straightforward: William and Catherine returned to the same public royal event at the Cenotaph after several weeks without a widely reported joint appearance, while the monarchy was managing the formal removal of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s titles and his departure from Royal Lodge.
The event showed senior royals carrying out established duties at a sensitive moment. It did not, by itself, prove what Catherine or Camilla privately thought about Andrew’s removal, why the couple’s schedules had not overlapped publicly for several weeks, or what the Wales family’s move to Forest Lodge meant for their private lives.
Evidence note: The ceremonial details are based on the official Court Circular and UK government information about the 2025 National Service of Remembrance. The Andrew title changes are based on the Buckingham Palace announcement and the subsequent Letters Patent. The Forest Lodge context comes from the 2025 UK Parliament research briefing. The poppy symbolism is explained by the Royal British Legion. Claims about private family support, motives or choreography are treated as reported speculation rather than verified fact.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: William and Catherine’s joint appearance at the Cenotaph happened on November 9, 2025, after roughly a month without a widely reported joint public engagement. Its significance came from the timing: the senior royals were carrying out a national ceremony shortly after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lost his royal style and title. The event showed institutional continuity, but it did not prove private family motives or establish that Forest Lodge was connected to Royal Lodge.
