Kate Middleton and Prince William attended King Charles III’s pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace on December 16, 2025, with their children George, Charlotte and Louis, according to Marie Claire. This was the palace lunch before Christmas—not the royal family’s Christmas Day church service at Sandringham.
What happened at the 2025 royal Christmas lunch?
Marie Claire reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived at Buckingham Palace with all three of their children for the December 16 gathering. The outlet said William drove the family to the event. Images shared by Hello! on Instagram showed George and Louis only partly, according to Marie Claire’s account.
The report is secondary event coverage; it does not cite an official palace announcement confirming the family’s attendance. The details should therefore be understood as reported by Marie Claire, rather than as a palace-confirmed guest list.
What did Kate and Charlotte wear?
Marie Claire described Kate in a red Alessandra Rich dress with a black velvet bow, and Charlotte in a burgundy coat with a red ribbon bow. The mother-and-daughter hair accessories offered a coordinated festive detail.

Attendance can vary by year. ITV reported on December 19, 2024, that William and Kate would not attend that year’s palace lunch: they were already in Norfolk and planned to spend Christmas with the wider family at Sandringham. ITV described the lunch as a private gathering for senior royals and wider relatives who would not join celebrations at the King’s Norfolk home. That 2024 absence does not establish who attended the 2025 lunch.
