Karrion Kross and Scarlett’s WWE contracts expired in August 2025. Since then, they have taken independent bookings and returned to Major League Wrestling (MLW), where Kross won the MLW World Heavyweight Championship in January 2026, according to a profile published by Men’s Journal on July 30, 2026. They have said they would consider the right future opportunity, including AEW, but neither an AEW signing nor a WWE return is confirmed by the reporting available as of October 8, 2026.
What happened when Karrion Kross and Scarlett left WWE?
On August 11, 2025, Kross announced that he was accepting bookings, while Scarlett posted a farewell statement about her time with WWE. Pro Wrestling Dot Net reproduced both statements and reported that their contracts had expired. Read the departure report.

Independent bookings and appearances
After the contracts expired, Kross said he wanted to keep performing in familiar places while exploring new ones. In an October 2025 interview, the pair discussed future work and their post-WWE plans. The interview report also notes Kross’s appearances and book-tour plans.

Return to MLW and a championship win
Men’s Journal reported on July 30, 2026, that Kross and Scarlett returned to MLW in November 2025. The profile says Kross won MLW’s World Heavyweight Championship at Battle Riot VIII in January 2026, winning a 40-person Battle Riot. Could Karrion Kross and Scarlett join AEW?
In a May 2026 interview, Kross and Scarlett said an AEW run could be possible if the creative plan suited them. Scarlett said it would need “a proper long-term storyline plan,” according to Fightful’s report. They also discussed independent, televised, and streaming work as possibilities, with an emphasis on meaningful performances. Kross put their priority this way: “We want to do meaningful performances with purpose, and have fun.”

Those comments describe openness to a potential opportunity, not a signed AEW deal. The reporting does not establish that AEW made them an offer.

No WWE return is confirmed in the reporting available. In June 2026, Kross said he had not heard from the WWE executives who had been his original points of contact about a possible return. That was a time-specific update—not proof that contact could not happen later. Fightful’s report.

The known paths differ in what has been documented: independent bookings gave Kross room to work in familiar and new settings; MLW provided a documented return and a title win; and a possible televised promotion such as AEW would depend, by their account, on the right creative plan. None of these statements establishes that the pair are choosing among formal offers.
