Justin Trudeau wore a shark costume in a Halloween photo with his son Hadrien, who was dressed as a surfer. AOL connected the shark to Katy Perry’s 2015 Super Bowl halftime show and its “Left Shark” moment—but the article does not quote Trudeau confirming that the costume was meant as a message about Perry.
What did Justin Trudeau wear for Halloween?
In a photo shared on Instagram, Trudeau appeared dressed as a shark beside his son Hadrien, who wore a surfer costume. AOL reported that Trudeau’s caption said, “I’m the shark (to his left),” and added, “We built the costume together—a little father-son Halloween teamwork.” The quotations are as reported by AOL; the original Instagram post was not independently retrieved.
Why did the costume bring Katy Perry to mind?
AOL interpreted the pairing of a shark and surfer as a playful visual reference to Perry’s 2015 Super Bowl halftime performance, which featured shark-costumed dancers. One of them became widely known as “Left Shark.” The caption’s “to his left” wording adds to that reading, but it does not establish Trudeau’s intent: the article does not quote him explaining the costume as a reference to Perry or their relationship.
What is the relationship context?
AOL’s November 1, 2025, article says Trudeau and Perry appeared together as a couple at Crazy Horse in Paris on October 25, 2025, for Perry’s 41st birthday, describing it as their first public appearance as a couple. The Halloween interpretation followed that reported appearance. The article also includes relationship claims from unnamed sources; those claims are not independently verified here.
