Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were first widely reported together in 2007, announced a separation in March 2011, became engaged later that year, and married in Italy in 2012. They have two sons. Here is the public chronology, with personal recollections and anonymously sourced reports identified as such.
2007: First meeting and early public sightings
Timberlake later recalled meeting Biel at a friend’s surprise birthday party in Hollywood. In a 2018 memoir account reproduced by Entertainment Tonight, he said they were standing in a group when he made a sarcastic comment that Biel understood. He remembered: “When I met Jess, it was undeniable how beautiful she is.” This is Timberlake’s retrospective account, not independent confirmation of the scene.
Separately, ELLE’s timeline places their first widely reported sightings in January 2007, when they were seen snowboarding with friends in Park City. It quoted a source saying Timberlake was not looking for a relationship then. ELLE also reported a May source describing him as ready to be serious. Those accounts concern what unnamed sources said about his intentions; they do not establish his private feelings.
May–September 2007: Dating becomes public
Glamour describes the couple as going public in May. In September, Timberlake alluded to dating someone while speaking with Oprah Winfrey, according to the same timeline. The January sightings, the start of any private relationship, and the public acknowledgment are distinct milestones; the sources do not establish one definitive date when they began dating.

March 2011: Representatives announce a separation
In March 2011, representatives confirmed that the couple had mutually decided to part ways, CBS News reported.
