Spoilers for Jurassic World Rebirth. Zora Bennett, Dr. Henry Loomis, and Duncan Kincaid survive the island, and Zora agrees to make the recovered dinosaur DNA available to everyone. That choice gives a future story somewhere to go—but the film does not directly announce or set up a sequel. The scale of the franchise is real: Universal said in an August 2025 home-release announcement that it had grossed more than $6.7 billion worldwide.
What happens at the end of Jurassic World Rebirth?
The three central survivors—Zora, Henry, and Duncan—make it off the island. The mission had been driven by the possibility of collecting DNA from three colossal animals, with the samples intended to help unlock a drug with major benefits for humanity. At the end, Zora agrees with Henry that the collected DNA should be made available to everyone.
That decision marks a shift from the money-focused mission Zora accepted at the outset. It also leaves a consequential question hanging: what happens when powerful biological material is no longer controlled by a narrow group? The film raises that possibility, but does not show the downstream effects.
Does the ending set up a sequel?
Not directly. GamesRadar+ describes the film as a story that can stand alone and says it does not explicitly set up a sequel. Us Magazine reads Zora’s decision about the DNA as a possible hook for another story. Those are interpretations of the ending, not confirmation that a follow-up has been announced or that it will continue these characters’ stories.

The open question is a plausible narrative opening: wider access to rare dinosaur samples could create new uses, conflicts, or risks. But the film does not establish which of those possibilities will happen, or that any one of them will drive a future installment.
Why the DNA decision matters in this story
Universal’s official premise places the film five years after Jurassic World Dominion, in a world where dinosaurs are largely confined to isolated equatorial environments. The mission targets three colossal creatures—on land, in the sea, and in the air—to collect DNA for a potentially valuable drug. Against that setup, making the samples broadly available could widen who can use them and what consequences follow. That is a reading of the story’s implications, not a confirmed outline for another film.

The isolated island and rare specimens also connect to screenwriter David Koepp’s stated approach to making dinosaurs feel special again. In his public script archive, he wrote: “To make the dinosaurs special again, restrict them! First trick was a premise that put them in an isolated place. The next trick will be to now logically expand them again.” The comment helps explain the film’s setup; it does not say that the ending commits a future movie to a particular direction.
How Rebirth fits the franchise’s creative approach
Rebirth is a new-character chapter directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Koepp, who also wrote the original Jurassic Park screenplay. The Associated Press reported that Koepp set out nine principles for the franchise, including “humor is oxygen” and the idea that dinosaurs are animals, not monsters. AP also described the film’s dinosaurs as clustered around the equator and its action as primarily island-based.

Those choices support a back-to-basics reading of Rebirth: an isolated setting, dangerous animals, and a mission with human stakes. The ending may point toward a way to expand beyond that contained setup, but neither Koepp’s comments nor the film itself confirms what a later chapter would do.
What the franchise’s $6 billion scale means
The title’s “$6 Billion” shorthand is broadly accurate, but Universal’s August 4, 2025 home-entertainment announcement gives the more precise studio claim: the franchise had grossed more than $6.7 billion worldwide. That is Universal’s cumulative figure at the time of the announcement, not a separately audited current total.

NBCUniversal Media separately reported that Rebirth had a $322.6 million worldwide opening on July 7, 2025. That is an opening-period figure, not the film’s final worldwide gross. Neither figure proves that the ending changes the franchise’s direction; they establish the commercial scale behind the question.

No. GamesRadar+ and Us Magazine both report that Rebirth has no post-credits scene. There is no extra scene after the credits that confirms a sequel or spells out what happens to the DNA.
