Jurassic World Rebirth is a 2025 film set five years after Jurassic World Dominion. A covert team is sent to collect dinosaur DNA for a drug with potentially life-saving benefits, but the mission intersects with a family stranded on an island that once housed a secret Jurassic Park research facility. The official synopsis teases a decades-old discovery without revealing what it is.
What is Jurassic World Rebirth about?
Five years after Jurassic World Dominion, dinosaurs largely survive in isolated equatorial habitats, according to the film’s official synopsis. Zora Bennett, a covert-operations expert, leads a mission to collect genetic material from three colossal creatures representing land, sea and air. The DNA is intended to support the development of a drug with major potential benefits for humanity. This is the story’s premise, not a claim about real-world science.
The operation collides with the Delgado family’s boating trip. Aquatic dinosaurs capsize their boat, leaving the survivors stranded with the mission team on a forbidden island that formerly housed a secret Jurassic Park research facility. The official synopsis says the group makes a shocking discovery that has been hidden for decades, but does not identify it. The island’s secret therefore remains unanswered in the published official setup; theories about the reveal should not be mistaken for confirmed plot details. NBCUniversal’s overview and the Amblin film page describe the premise and credits.
When does the film take place, and when was it released?
The story takes place five years after Jurassic World Dominion. The film opened in theaters on July 2, 2025, as announced by Universal. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment later announced digital availability beginning August 5, 2025, followed by 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD editions on September 9, 2025. Those are announced release dates, not confirmation of current streaming availability or retail inventory. Universal’s home-entertainment announcement provides the edition details.

Stewart and Jim Spencer were executive producers. The home-entertainment credits also name Alexandre Desplat for the music and John Williams for the Jurassic Park theme. The cast and production credits appear in NBCUniversal’s film overview and JurassicWorld.com’s official page.
What is confirmed about the island’s secret?
The official setup confirms only that the island once contained a secret Jurassic Park research facility and that the stranded group discovers something kept hidden for decades. It does not name the discovery. Gareth Edwards described the film before release as a DNA-retrieval mission that turns into a survival story and includes a twist, but that description does not establish what the twist is. Readers seeking a spoiler-free account should treat the reveal as undisclosed in the official synopsis rather than fill the gap with speculation.

Where can you watch it, and what is on the home release?
Universal announced digital availability from August 5, 2025, and 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD street dates of September 9, 2025. Availability now depends on retailer, service and region; the release announcement does not establish which streaming service currently carries the film. Universal’s earlier general statement that Jurassic films were available on Peacock is not proof of Rebirth’s current catalog status.
Universal advertised more than one hour of bonus material for the home release, including an alternate opening, deleted scenes, a gag reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes and two feature commentaries. The featurettes cover subjects such as the ocean sequence, Thailand locations, the river chase, the Quetzalcoatlus sequence, creature design and sound. The distributor’s technical listing specifies HDR10 for 4K UHD and gives aspect-ratio information as 16:9 and 2.39:1 widescreen. It lists English SDH, French Canadian and Latin American Spanish among languages and subtitles. Format features and language options can vary by market and edition, so check the particular listing before purchase. Universal’s release announcement contains the studio’s format and bonus-feature details.

Have the filmmakers announced a sequel or character return?
The official film and home-release materials cited here do not announce a sequel or a return for these characters. That absence is not evidence that no later announcement exists; a current studio announcement would be needed to make a definitive claim about what comes next.
