If you need ICSE Julius Caesar workbook solutions, start with the official Class X question style and choose a workbook that matches your class and prescribed edition. The most useful questions ask you to explain how Antony persuades the Roman crowd, not simply retell the plot. Publisher listings confirm ICSE workbooks with answers in print; they do not verify a publisher-authorized PDF of the specific ICSE solutions book.
What ICSE questions ask about Julius Caesar
The CISCE Class X Literature in English competency-focused questions include extracts from Act III, Scene I and Act III, Scene II. Their tasks span recall, understanding, application, analysis, evaluation and creation, so prepare to support interpretations with evidence from the play rather than rely on plot summaries. Read the CISCE Class X question document.
Act III, Scene I: Antony after the assassination
Questions on this extract cover the instructions Antony gives his servant, his warning that Rome is dangerous, and his predictions beside Caesar’s body. Students are also asked how Brutus and Cassius judge Antony and what Antony’s conduct in Acts III and IV reveals about him. To build an answer, connect a specific action or line to the judgment you make about his character.
Act III, Scene II: Antony speaks to the crowd
The extract begins with Antony recalling the mantle Caesar wore during the victory over the Nervii. CISCE asks why he names Cassius, Casca and Brutus while showing it, what arguments he had previously used against the charge that Caesar was ambitious, and why he calls Brutus well-beloved and the wound “the most unkindest cut of all.” The questions also compare Antony’s speech with Brutus’s and ask what the crowd and Antony reveal about themselves.

How to answer questions on Antony and Brutus
Explain the effect of the mantle and wounds
Do more than identify the mantle as Caesar’s clothing. Explain how Antony’s personal recollection makes Caesar seem present and familiar to the listeners, then connect that emotional appeal to the crowd’s reaction. When discussing the wounds, explain how Antony presents the physical evidence of betrayal as a response to Brutus’s account of the killing.
Read “honourable” in context
Antony’s repeated description of Brutus as “honourable” can shift in meaning as the speech develops. A strong answer identifies the repeated word, explains how the surrounding evidence challenges Brutus’s claim, and describes the resulting irony. Avoid treating the word as straightforward praise throughout.
Rank #2
Contrast the speeches
Brutus offers a direct justification for Caesar’s death, presenting his reasoning to the citizens. Antony works more strategically: he recalls Caesar’s conduct, points to the mantle and wounds, and lets the audience reconsider the accusation of ambition. Support the contrast with a detail from each speech rather than reducing it to “logic versus emotion.”

A practical way to study with workbook answers
- Read the assigned scene first. Note who is speaking, what has just happened and what the audience in the play knows.
- Attempt the question before checking the answer key. For extract questions, identify the relevant words or action and form a direct answer.
- Build an evidence-based explanation. State your interpretation, cite a specific detail from the extract, then explain its effect or significance.
- Compare your answer with the solution. Use it to spot missed evidence or reasoning, not as a substitute for understanding the scene.
- Check the workbook against your course. Confirm the class, exam year, coverage and prescribed edition before relying on its questions and answers.
