Julian McMahon, the Australian actor known for Charmed, Nip/Tuck, FBI: Most Wanted and two Fantastic Four films, died July 2, 2025, at 56. His wife, Kelly McMahon, announced his death after a private battle with cancer. A more specific cause was reported days later from a medical-examiner summary; it was not included in the family’s initial statement.

What was Julian McMahon’s cause of death?

In a statement carried by the Associated Press and CBS News on July 5, 2025, Kelly McMahon said her husband had died peacefully “after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.” She described it as a private battle and asked for support that would allow the family to grieve in privacy.

On July 10 and 11, the Los Angeles Times and ABC News reported further details from a Pinellas County medical-examiner summary. According to the reported summary, the cause was lung metastasis resulting from head-and-neck metastatic cancer, and the death was classified as natural. The Times said CNN had obtained the summary and that a county investigator declined to confirm the details to the newspaper. These specific medical details came in later reporting, not in the family’s initial announcement.

What was Julian McMahon known for?

McMahon built a career across Australian and American television, film, and network drama. He began with a lead role in the Australian series The Power, the Passion in 1989, made his feature-film debut in Wet and Wild Summer! (1992), later appeared on Another World and became a regular on Profiler.
