Spoiler warning: This explainer includes late-manga developments. Kenjaku is an ancient sorcerer who survives by transferring between bodies. In the present-day story, he is inhabiting Suguru Geto’s body. So, is Kenjaku Geto? No: Kenjaku and Geto are different people, though Kenjaku uses Geto’s body.
Who is Kenjaku in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Kenjaku (羂索) is a sorcerer who has continued acting across generations by changing bodies. The official anime character profile identifies him as the figure currently using Suguru Geto’s body, links him to the past identity of Noritoshi Kamo, and names him as the mastermind behind the Culling Game. The official character profile is a concise reference; the manga supplies the full sequence of events.

Is Kenjaku Geto?
No. Geto is the body Kenjaku occupies in the present-day story; Kenjaku is the sorcerer who took control of it. The distinction matters because Kenjaku’s plans and history belong to the body-hopping sorcerer, not to Geto as a person. The official profile describes Kenjaku as having changed bodies and identifies Geto’s as his current one.
Why is Kenjaku associated with Noritoshi Kamo?
The name Noritoshi Kamo refers to one of Kenjaku’s past identities, associated with the creation of the Death Paintings. It does not mean that the later character named Noritoshi Kamo is Kenjaku: the shared name points to Kenjaku’s earlier history, not to two versions of the same present-day character. The official character profile connects Kenjaku’s past identity with the Death Paintings.

What is Kenjaku’s plan?
Kenjaku orchestrates the Culling Game, a deadly contest involving people given jujutsu abilities. His larger project is an extreme plan involving jujutsu; the profile establishes his role in the game, but it is not a complete account of his techniques or a definitive explanation of every motive. It is safer to distinguish what he does in the story from interpretations of why he does it than to reduce his aims to ordinary political ambition.
What can Kenjaku do?
His defining ability is transferring between bodies, allowing him to operate through different identities over a long span of history. The official character profile provides a broad summary, not a full technique guide. For detailed explanations of particular abilities and their limits, the manga chapters are the appropriate source rather than an unsourced label or compressed character description.

What happens to Kenjaku in the late manga?
In the late manga, Kenjaku confronts Fumihiko Takaba and is attacked by Yuta Okkotsu. The story also includes the idea that Kenjaku’s “will” will be inherited. That wording should not be treated on its own as proof that Kenjaku survives or that a particular character succeeds him; the meaning depends on the scene and its exact context in the manga.
VIZ’s official chapter catalog lists the series, including the late chapters relevant to these events. Reading the chapters gives the plot sequence and wording in full; a condensed synopsis can help locate a scene but is not a substitute for it.

Where should you look for more context?
- For the complete plot: Read the manga through an official listing such as VIZ’s Jujutsu Kaisen chapter catalog. Chapter access can vary by territory.
- For a quick character reference: Consult the VIZ listing for Jujutsu Kaisen: The Official Character Guide, which describes the book as containing profiles for major characters.
- For the official anime summary: Use the Kenjaku character page; it is useful for the basic identity and role, but does not replace the manga’s fuller account.
