Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo: What We Know About Its Villain—and the Aoi Todo Reveal

Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, including reports about its finale and the bonus chapter in volume 3.

The available official synopsis does not confirm that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reveals a surprise villain. It does establish a more complicated premise than a simple alien-invasion story: in 2086, extraterrestrials called Simurians arrive, and Okkotsu sorcerers Yuka and Makoto become central to Earth’s fate. Separately, coverage of the final collected volume reports an unexpected future appearance by Aoi Todo in a bonus chapter—a character reveal, not proof of a villain twist.

Does Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reveal a different villain?

That claim is not established by the official series synopsis. Shueisha describes Simurians arriving on Earth and identifies Yuka and Makoto Okkotsu as key to the planet’s fate, but it does not name a single villain or say that readers’ expectations about one are overturned. Shueisha’s official series page sets the story in 2086, 68 years after the Culling Game.

That distinction matters: the Simurians’ arrival is the apparent external threat, but an arrival alone does not establish that every Simurian is a villain. Retrospective finale coverage instead frames the larger tension around whether humans and Simurians can coexist. That is a secondary-source interpretation of the story, not an official declaration of a hidden antagonist. ComicBook.com’s finale coverage discusses that conflict.

What is the story’s central conflict?

Modulo is set decades after the events that defined the original series, with a new generation at the center. The official synopsis says a spaceship and beings who call themselves Simurians suddenly appear; Yuka and Makoto Okkotsu are placed at the heart of what happens to Earth. VIZ sums up the setup as “Jujutsu sorcerers and aliens!” and credits Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki. VIZ’s Modulo listing points readers to MANGA Plus for the latest free chapters available in their location.

For readers asking “who is the villain?”, it is useful to separate three things the story and its coverage put in view:

  • Apparent external threat: the Simurians’ sudden arrival on Earth.
  • Broader conflict: the question of coexistence between humans and Simurians, as interpreted in finale coverage.
  • Character surprise: Aoi Todo’s reported appearance in the final volume’s extra chapter, which is separate from the question of who threatens Earth.

What is the Aoi Todo reveal?

El Comercio reported on May 2, 2026, that the third and final volume was released in Japan on May 1 and contains a special extra chapter showing Aoi Todo in the future. The same report says some fans had expected Megumi Fushiguro to be the absent character who would appear, but the reported reveal was Todo instead. El Comercio’s report on the volume 3 extra is secondary coverage; readers seeking the scene itself should consult the licensed volume.

This is good news for fans invested in the original cast’s legacy, but it should not be inflated into a villain reveal. A separate report on chapter 20 says Nobara suggests Todo may know where Yuji is and treats the exchange as indicating that Todo is alive. That chapter-status detail and the later volume 3 bonus appearance are distinct story beats. GamesRadar’s chapter 20 coverage reports on the earlier reference.

What does the finale say about Megumi?

ComicBook.com says Megumi is briefly mentioned as no longer around and interprets that line to mean he is dead, while noting that the story does not explain what happened. That is the outlet’s reading of the scene, not a direct official explanation of Megumi’s fate. It also helps explain why some readers might have expected him to appear in the extra chapter, but it does not change what the reported bonus actually features.

Where can readers find the reveal?

Shueisha’s Japanese series page lists collected volumes 1, 2, and 3; coverage places the Todo bonus chapter in volume 3. The official volume listing does not establish stock, edition, or availability outside Japan, so check the local bookseller or licensed digital service for those details. VIZ’s chapter listing directs readers to MANGA Plus for the latest free chapters available in their location.

What the evidence supports—and what remains unconfirmed

  • Established by the official synopsis: the 2086 setting, the Simurian arrival, and Yuka and Makoto Okkotsu’s central role.
  • Reported by secondary coverage: the final volume’s extra chapter features Todo, and finale coverage characterizes coexistence as a central tension.
  • Not established by the cited official material: a specific surprise villain whose identity overturns what readers thought.

So the more defensible fan takeaway is not that a confirmed villain twist has landed. It is that Modulo’s conflict can be read as more than a straightforward invasion narrative, while the final volume offers a separate, welcome glimpse of a familiar character in the future.
