In 2022, he performed Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” as part of his run on the show; it was one of three songs listed in the Eagles’ official player profile.
Who was Thingamabob on The Masked Singer?
Thingamabob was Mailata, the Australian-born Eagles player. The team’s official profile says he was unmasked during the show’s third episode. FOX 29 Philadelphia also reported on the reveal and interviewed Mailata about the experience.
Which songs did Mailata perform?
The Eagles profile lists three songs from his appearance:
- “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi
- “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran
- “Classic” by MKTO
So Mailata did sing a Sheeran song, but “Perfect” was one performance among several. The appearance does not mean Sheeran himself took part in the episode.

Why did an Eagles tackle appear on the singing competition?
Mailata’s route to the NFL was unusual: the Eagles profile describes him as a former Australian rugby player who had not played a snap of American football before Philadelphia selected him in the 2018 NFL Draft. His appearance brought that football identity to a music-entertainment show, where he competed in costume as Thingamabob.
Can you watch Mailata’s episode now?
Current FOX catalogue information identifies listings for Season 14, not Mailata’s 2022 appearance. That listing alone does not establish whether the episode featuring Thingamabob is currently available to stream, or whether access varies by territory.
