The main house ultimately became the home of Jonathan and his husband, Harley Rodriguez. The larger property, meanwhile, was intended to include accommodations and guest-oriented spaces that could support the campground’s future as a rental destination.
Jonathan leads the renovation; Jordan joins the family team
Jordan Knight is an important part of the story, but the available HGTV material does not present him as the show’s primary host or equal renovation lead. Jonathan remains the project’s designer and decision-maker. Jordan contributes as his brother, longtime bandmate, family collaborator and design sounding board.
That distinction matters because the appeal of the series is not merely that two members of New Kids on the Block appear together. The renovation stakes were unusually high
Camp Revamp’s central tension comes from the condition of the property and the scale of the proposed transformation. HGTV’s renovation coverage described a site with multiple serious problems, including:
- black mold;
- mice;
- termites;
- water damage;
- rotting or unstable foundations; and
- cabins that required major structural intervention rather than cosmetic updating.
One cabin had to be taken down to the studs after its foundation was found to be rotting and unstable. HGTV’s gallery also referred to 11 rundown cabins on the property, while the initial project description discussed 10 rental cabins and a plan to renovate three of them plus the main house. Those figures describe different aspects of the property and renovation plan; they should not be read as evidence that all of the cabins were completed on camera.

HGTV reported that Knight invested $1 million of his own money. The six-month timeline added another layer of pressure: the project had to move from an abandoned campground toward a usable guest destination while the team addressed safety, structure, design and functionality.
From abandoned campground to nostalgic New England retreat
The design brief was not to erase the property’s past. Jonathan connected the renovation to childhood summers spent at his grandparents’ cottage on Lake Erie, and the completed spaces draw on that personal memory through a deliberately nostalgic summer-camp vocabulary.

The recurring design elements include:
- natural and refinished wood;
- vintage camping equipment and paraphernalia;
- wooden oars and decorative racquets;
- reclaimed signs;
- framed family photographs;
- plaid wallpaper and textiles;
- enamelware;
- lanterns;
- checkered flooring; and
- bold retro accent colors.
The result is rustic without being purely rustic. The spaces are meant to feel like a remembered summer camp, but they also need to work as modern living and vacation-rental spaces. That balance—keeping the worn, collected atmosphere while improving safety and usability—is the project’s clearest design challenge.
The cabins and welcome center
The planned rental-cabin work gave the series its strongest renovation stakes. The cabins were not treated as interchangeable blank slates: their condition varied, and at least one required substantial rebuilding because of its failing foundation. The renovation plan specifically focused on three rental cabins rather than claiming that every structure on the 12-acre property received a complete makeover.
The welcome center received a particularly distinctive treatment. Jordan and Sharon helped develop a country-store concept with shiplap walls, orange cabinetry, souvenirs and practical camper supplies. The idea was to make the building feel like the kind of small general store guests might encounter at a traditional campground while still giving it a useful role in the finished retreat.
That approach also shows how the series uses design to establish a sense of place. The welcome center is not just a reception area; it is part of the vacation experience, with visual cues that tell visitors they have arrived somewhere rooted in camping history.

Inside Jonathan and Harley’s $100,000 main-house renovation

Layer textiles instead of overdecorating

Farmhouse Fixer ran for three seasons before Jonathan announced in June 2025 that HGTV would not proceed with another season. That decision did not cancel or change the already completed Camp Revamp episodes.
HGTV later brought Jonathan and Jordan together again on Rock the Block Season 6. In its coverage, HGTV explicitly referred back to Jordan’s work with Jonathan on the Camp Revamp property before presenting the brothers as teammates in the renovation competition. Their appearance there extends the family-renovation storyline, but it is a separate program from the New Hampshire campground project.
