John Cena’s Boston farewell took place on Nov. 10, 2025, at TD Garden. WWE billed it as his final appearance in his hometown—not his final Raw or his final match. The evening became more than a goodbye when Cena defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.
What happened at John Cena’s Boston Raw farewell?
Cena appeared with Triple H on the Nov. 10 episode of Monday Night Raw. Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio interrupted them, and Cena challenged him for the title. WWE’s recap says Mysterio used a chair and tried to take advantage of a referee distraction. Cena ultimately hit an Attitude Adjustment to win the match and the championship. (WWE’s Nov. 10 Raw results.)
The title win gave the hometown send-off a consequential ending: Cena left Boston not only having said farewell to his hometown crowd, but also as Intercontinental Champion—a title he had never won before.
Why was the Boston appearance emotional?
WWE had promoted the TD Garden date as Cena’s final appearance in his hometown. Its official video page presents the farewell segment and the way Mysterio disrupted it; a separate official video page features Cena’s last entrance in Boston. Those clips offer the clearest view of how WWE presented the moment and of the crowd’s response. (Watch WWE’s full Boston farewell segment.)

The emotional weight came from the hometown framing and the occasion, rather than from Boston being the end of Cena’s WWE career. WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque later described Cena’s broader legacy in the announcement of his final match: “John’s contributions to WWE are immeasurable. There are no words that can truly relay how much he means to this business.” That was a career tribute in the final-match announcement, not a remark made during the Boston Raw.
Was Boston John Cena’s last WWE Raw?
No. Boston was his last Raw appearance in his hometown, but Cena appeared on Raw again one week later. WWE identified the Nov. 17 episode at Madison Square Garden in New York City as his final Raw. Cena teamed with Rey Mysterio and Sheamus to defeat Judgment Day in a six-man tag match. (WWE’s Nov. 17 Raw results.)
