Joanna Cassidy marked her 80th birthday on August 2, 2025, with a beach photo shoot in Malibu and an interview with PEOPLE. She said she felt much as she did at 30, described taking life day by day, and shared the kind of action role she hopes to play next.

What Cassidy said about turning 80
Asked about her age, Cassidy said, “I feel no different than when I was 30, quite honestly.” She also acknowledged that she was not excited about the number itself: “I can’t say I’m excited about the number,” she said.
Her approach to the passage of time was less about the milestone than the present. “Time is an illusion! I’m very aware of the fact that it’s passing very quickly, but it’s sort of nothing. I just say, ‘Go day by day.’” Those are Cassidy’s personal reflections, not medical guidance about aging.

Her focus on staying active—and finding another adventure role
In the August 2025 interview, Cassidy described working out and pushing herself physically as important parts of her life. She connected that drive to the sort of role she would like to take on: “I want to be in another adventure movie. I want to be in a movie where I can show those attributes that I have. That’s what I want to do.”

Alan Hamel also spoke about aging in the interview, praising Cassidy’s physical condition. He offered his own view of birthdays: “The aging process is great. People think that it’s not, but it’s great. You get a lot more out of each birthday, especially when you’re celebrating after five years or 10 years,” His comments belong to that August 2025 conversation, rather than serving as an update on their relationship today.
