Jimmy Cliff’s wife and the three children most often named in international obituaries are identified as Latifa Belaydi (also reported in Jamaican coverage as Latifa Chambers or Latifa Chambers Cliff), Lilty Cliff, Aken Cliff and, from another relationship, Nabiyah Be. Those three children are not a complete count: a Jamaica Gleaner report on a December 2025 tribute said Cliff had 19 children.
Who was Jimmy Cliff’s wife?
Published accounts use different names for Cliff’s wife. His official biography describes her as Moroccan, French and Jamaican and names her as the mother of Lilty and Aken, without giving a name in the cited family passage: Jimmy Cliff’s official biography. The Guardian’s obituary names her Latifa Belaydi, while Jamaican post-funeral coverage uses Latifa Chambers Cliff. The sources do not explain the surname variation, so the different forms should not be treated as evidence of different spouses.

Aken Cliff
Aken is likewise named in the official biography and The Guardian’s obituary as a child of Cliff and his wife.
Nabiyah Be
The Guardian names Brazilian actor and singer Nabiyah Be among Cliff’s children from a previous relationship. Together, Lilty, Aken and Nabiyah are the three names most useful for a headline about “3 Kids”; they are not a complete list of his children.

How many children did Jimmy Cliff have?
The Jamaica Gleaner reported that Cliff had 19 children. In its December 19, 2025 report on a tribute, the newspaper said his brother Victor Chambers read all 19 names and that the children used the surnames Chambers, Bashir and Cliff. The article’s cited passage does not reproduce the full list, so a complete roster or the parentage of every child cannot be established from it.

The Associated Press reported that three of Cliff’s children shared a family message, but its account does not name them: Associated Press obituary. The Guardian provides the relationship details for the three commonly named children; the AP passage is not a basis for assigning the family message to Lilty, Aken or Nabiyah specifically.
