The two roles help explain why both series are named in reports of her death: they were recurring parts in a career that also included guest appearances, film work, stage performances and stand-up comedy. In a 2008 fan-club interview, Jacobson recalled that she could work on both series because she was hired weekly for Erin Jones and the production schedules were coordinated. That interview is a first-person retrospective rather than an official production record. Discussing the tone of Falcon Crest, she said, “They had a lot of humor.”
A wider career in television and film
Jacobson’s television work extended well beyond the two series. The Television Academy’s biographical record lists appearances in Quantum Leap, Newhart, Uncle Buck, Days of Our Lives and Castle. Variety also notes credits in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Hung and Who’s the Boss?.
