The arrangement addressed particular scheduling and decision-making disputes; it did not end all later custody litigation. Entertainment Tonight reported the terms.
What the March 2022 custody arrangement said
The March 2022 report described a court ruling that accommodated Williams’s work in New York without replacing the parents’ shared custody arrangement. The terms were reported as provisions in a ruling, not simply as a private agreement between the parents.
- New York parenting time: Williams was allowed four consecutive days per month with the children in New York, including two weekend days, while he was appearing on Broadway in Take Me Out.
- Custody: The parents would continue to share custody. The report also described limited tie-breaking authority for Williams on COVID-19 protocols.
- Request to reduce time: Drake-Lee’s request to reduce Williams’s custodial time was denied.
- Canceled visits: If Williams canceled scheduled parenting time, he could not later reinstate it without mutual written agreement.
- Extracurricular activities: The parents were to meet and confer about activities. If they could not agree, Drake-Lee would have tie-breaking authority on that issue.
- Coparenting support: The judge encouraged the parents to use a third-party coordinator or counselor to refine custody and visitation arrangements.
Entertainment Tonight reproduced this statement from the court’s written order: “Finally, the Court reiterates that the coparenting counseling order is possibly the most important aspect of the orders being made at this time.”
Why the 2022 decision was not the end of the dispute
The couple’s divorce was finalized in October 2020, and retrospective coverage described them as having joint legal and physical custody. The March 2022 ruling addressed specific disputes and Williams’s Broadway-related schedule; later reports show that custody issues continued to arise.

Williams sought changes in 2024
According to reporting on his September 2024 filing, Williams sought equal joint physical custody and more visitation. That request was a later development, distinct from the New York schedule addressed in 2022. Entertainment Tonight reported on the request.
2025 reports described a healthcare decision and a challenge
In 2025, coverage described a separate ruling giving Williams sole legal authority over the children’s healthcare decisions while physical custody was shared on alternating weeks. Drake-Lee later challenged the healthcare ruling, contending in a filing that it had been made without an evidentiary hearing. Her contention is an allegation in court papers, not an established finding in the reports. Us Weekly reported on the ruling, while TMZ reported on Drake-Lee’s challenge.

Separately, Williams alleged that Drake-Lee restricted his access to the children, according to reporting based on court papers. That allegation, like Drake-Lee’s objection to the later healthcare decision, should be understood as a party’s claim rather than a court-established fact. TMZ covered the filings.
The 2025 accounts do not establish the complete procedural status of the custody matter as of October 2026. They should not be taken to mean that the 2022 schedule remained unchanged or that every custody issue was finally resolved.
