Jesse Ventura questioned whether the July 2024 shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, was real during a March 24, 2026 episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored. Ventura invoked a wrestling practice called a “blade job” and asked, “Where’s his scar?” The reports of the exchange record his allegation and the responses to it; they do not establish that the shooting was staged.
What Jesse Ventura said about the Butler shooting
According to TV Insider’s report, Morgan asked Ventura whether he thought the incident was fake. Ventura replied, “I don’t know. Where’s his scar?” He had introduced the point by asking, “You ever hear of a blade job?” Morgan responded, “A blade job? What, you think it was fake?”
In professional wrestling, a “blade job” refers to a deliberate cut used to draw blood for dramatic effect. Ventura used the term to suggest a possible explanation for the visible injury Trump sustained. That was Ventura’s speculation, not a finding established by the coverage.
How Piers Morgan and the White House responded
Morgan challenged the implication by pointing out that someone had been killed and questioned whether Trump should be treated as a hero. Us Weekly’s account identifies the person killed as firefighter Corey Comperatore.
#1 Best Overall
Us Weekly reported that White House spokesperson Davis Ingle responded: “On that tragic day in Butler, Pennsylvania, we tragically lost an American hero, Corey Comperatore, who selflessly laid down his life to protect those around him.” Ingle added, “Only a fool would believe otherwise.”
What the reports establish—and what they do not
The TV Insider and Us Weekly stories document Ventura’s remarks, Morgan’s challenge, and the White House response. They do not provide an independent forensic assessment of the shooting or evidence that it was staged. The allegation should therefore be understood as Ventura’s claim, not as a verified account of what happened.

Ventura’s separate objection to Trump’s WWE Hall of Fame induction
The exchange also touched on Trump’s place in wrestling. Us Weekly reported that Ventura said, “Donald Trump does not belong in the wrestling Hall of Fame. He never earned it.” This was a separate criticism, distinct from his speculation about the Butler shooting.

Ventura is a former professional wrestler who later served as Minnesota governor. A PBS profile published in January 2024 provides background on his public career and past connection with Trump. That history contextualizes Ventura’s public profile but does not substantiate his 2026 allegation.
