Waiting for a doctor’s callback, he thought he might be hearing about chlamydia. Instead, he was told the scan raised concern for testicular cancer. Solomon has described that moment in interviews; it is his personal account, not a connection between chlamydia and cancer or a way to diagnose either condition.
Why Solomon expected an STI result
Solomon recalled noticing a twinge of pain and initially not thinking much of it. “I felt a twinge of pain, but that’s a tricky thing because generally if you press on your nuts, they hurt,” he said in a first-person account for Men’s Health.
At a doctor’s visit, he was advised to get an ultrasound. He also had an STI panel. As he remembered it, the doctor called and told him to come back: “I go and get an STD panel and the ultrasound and all the tests. The doctor called me immediately and said, ‘You got to come back.’” Solomon said he assumed the callback might be about chlamydia. “I was just like, ‘Oh no, I probably have chlamydia or something … my life is over,’” he recalled in an interview reported by TODAY.com.
The concern was not that chlamydia had caused cancer. Solomon’s account is that the ultrasound raised concern for testicular cancer, while he was waiting to hear about his tests.

What happened after the scan
Solomon said a doctor told him removal of the testicle was likely the next step. The diagnosis was confirmed after surgery. He was diagnosed in 2017, at age 24, according to his Men’s Health account and a People interview republished by Yahoo Entertainment.
He later described a period of monitoring followed by a recurrence involving lymph nodes near his stomach, after which he underwent chemotherapy. In the May 2024 interview, Solomon also spoke about anxiety around a later five-year scan. Those details describe his experience; they should not be read as a treatment plan for another person.

What his story does—and does not—say
- Solomon’s account recounts a sequence: pain, a doctor-recommended ultrasound, a callback he thought might concern an STI, and news that the scan raised concern for cancer.
- Chlamydia and testicular cancer are different conditions. His worry while awaiting results does not suggest that one causes the other or that their symptoms are interchangeable.
- A twinge or other symptom alone cannot establish a diagnosis. Solomon’s story is not medical guidance; a qualified clinician can assess an individual concern.
Solomon has also discussed awareness through Movember’s Know Thy Nuts campaign, as reported by Parade. His account puts a personal face on an unexpected diagnosis, but the central moment remains specific to him: he feared an STI result, while the ultrasound had prompted concern about cancer.
