After appearing on Married at First Sight (MAFS), Burford and Han were photographed holding hands and looking affectionate. In a July 11, 2023 interview with PerthNow, Burford said the pictures were intentional: “It’s quite ironic, because we deliberately took photos of us holding hands to stir the pot.”
According to Burford, the staged photos and the outings that followed led to a genuine connection. That later account adds context to the earlier denials: creating dating speculation was part of the joke, but he said they also became closer.

Distance was the obstacle described in Nine’s account: Han was moving to Sydney, and the pair did not want to try a long-distance relationship. Burford’s July comments were hypothetical—he thought things might have gone further had she remained in Perth—not confirmation that they became a couple.
What did they say at the time?
In May 2023, Burford denied that they were dating, while Han described them as friends who had kissed once, according to PerthNow’s report of May 22. Burford’s July interview then acknowledged the kiss and explained how the staged photos became part of a closer connection. Taken together, the reports describe a brief romantic moment, not an established relationship.

What is known about Burford beyond MAFS?
PerthNow described Burford in July 2023 as a Perth marriage celebrant and former heavy-metal vocalist, and reported that he had wedding bookings around the country after appearing on MAFS. That is background from the 2023 interview, not confirmation of his current availability for bookings.
