Robles said from the stage that he had feared having his story told without knowing how it would be presented. He added that he was proud of the way the filmmakers told it and “couldn’t be happier.” Those remarks give context to the ovation: the real-life subject was present to see the film’s premiere and publicly respond to its portrayal.

The fact-based sports drama follows Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and pursued a wrestling career that culminated in a championship. Jharrel Jerome plays Anthony, while Lopez plays Judy.
