Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar reported that she wore the look in Beverly Hills over the weekend before their December 2, 2024 coverage.
What Jennifer Lopez wore
Harper’s Bazaar described Lopez’s top as gray mesh with long sleeves and crystal embellishment, worn over a nude bra and tucked into a brown leather midi skirt. Brown leather boots completed the outfit. Vogue likewise highlighted the sheer, crystal-covered top, brown leather skirt, knee-high boots, and a matching crocodile bag.
The original top’s designer and exact model are not confirmed in those reports, so the outfit is best understood as a styling reference rather than an identifiable product recommendation. Why a sheer top works for holiday dressing
Vogue’s styling angle is that a sheer top can bring the “naked” look into an outfit without relying on an entirely transparent dress. The mesh creates visual interest, while sleeves, a chosen underlayer, and a substantial skirt let you control how much skin shows. How to adapt the outfit
Choose your level of transparency
Mesh varies in opacity, and the garment’s construction affects how visible an underlayer will be. If you want less exposure, look for denser mesh, lining, or a sheer overlay that leaves only selected areas transparent. Check the neckline and sleeves as well as the torso: coverage is not determined by the fabric label alone.
Plan the underlayer deliberately
Lopez’s reported nude bra is one option, not a requirement. A bra, bralette, camisole, or opaque base layer can each create a different finish. Choose a color and cut that work with the top and that you feel comfortable wearing; consider whether straps or seams will show through the mesh.

Balance the top with the skirt
A high-waisted skirt, as Vogue suggests, can create a clean transition between a sheer top and the lower half of the outfit. A leather midi skirt echoes Lopez’s reported look and leans dressy; a different material or shorter length can make the combination feel less formal. Match the skirt’s fit and length to the occasion and to how you want the outfit to move.
Use embellishment as the focal point
With crystals on the top, keep the rest of the outfit intentional rather than competing for attention. Boots in a related color can tie the pieces together, while a simple bag lets the embellished mesh remain the visual focus. For a closer interpretation of Vogue’s suggestion, pair the sheer top with a monochromatic bra top and a high-waisted skirt.
