Jenna Ortega stars with Danny Ramirez and the fictional duo Dina and Mita in Doritos Dinamita’s Super Bowl LVIII commercial. The joke: Ramirez grabs the last bag, and Dina and Mita take off after him, leaving Ortega behind. The spot promoted a 2024 Dinamita relaunch that introduced new flavors and a stick-shaped snack.
What happens in the commercial?
Frito-Lay’s February 5, 2024 campaign announcement describes Ortega, Dina and Mita searching for their favorite Dinamita chips. Ramirez takes the last bag, so Dina and Mita pursue him while Ortega is left behind. That is the brand’s own promotional synopsis; it does not establish every scene or identify the exact flavor shown in each shot.

The title’s “grandmas” refers to Dina and Mita, the two characters paired with Ortega. Frito-Lay introduced them as a feisty, unexpected duo, but its announcement does not provide further character biographies.
When did the ad air?
Frito-Lay announced that the commercial would run during the third quarter of Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, 2024. The company called it the first-ever Doritos Dinamita in-game Super Bowl commercial. PepsiCo Foods North America chief marketing officer Brett O’Brien said Doritos’ Super Bowl campaign history spanned “the past 24 years,” referring to the history as of his 2024 statement.

Which Doritos flavors and snacks did it promote?
The campaign supported a Dinamita relaunch and flavor expansion announced by Frito-Lay on January 10, 2024. The launch lineup included rolled tortilla chips and a new stick-shaped format:
| Format | Flavors named in the January 2024 launch |
|---|---|
| Rolled Dinamita | Chile Limón, described by Frito-Lay as the original Dinamita flavor, and new Flamin’ Hot Queso |
| Dinamita Sticks | Smoky Chile Queso, Tangy Fiery Lime and Hot Honey Mustard |
These are the flavors in the 2024 launch announcement, not confirmation that every flavor remains on sale today. Frito-Lay listed launch prices of $2.49 for a 4-ounce bag and $5.99 for a 10.75-ounce bag; those are historical 2024 prices, not current price guidance. The release also described nationwide retail distribution at launch, which does not establish present-day availability.
