After Hoda Kotb’s final fourth-hour appearance on Today on January 10, 2025, Jenna Bush Hager continued as host and welcomed rotating celebrity co-hosts on Today with Jenna & Friends, which began January 13. Early guests included Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, Keke Palmer, Michelle Buteau and Scarlett Johansson. The rotation was a temporary format, not the immediate appointment of a single permanent replacement.

Who replaced Hoda Kotb on Today?
The guest co-hosts filled a rotating role after Kotb’s departure; they were not each named as her permanent replacement. In December 2025, NBC announced Sheinelle Jones as Bush Hager’s permanent fourth-hour co-host. The fourth hour was scheduled to take the name Today with Jenna & Sheinelle in January 2026.
That later appointment marks the difference between the two arrangements: Jenna & Friends featured changing celebrity guests, while the announced next format pairs Bush Hager with Jones as the regular co-host.
