Jeff Bridges has three siblings: older brother Beau Bridges, younger sister Lucinda (called Cindy in some sources), and older brother Garrett, who died in infancy in 1948, before Jeff was born. So, does Jeff Bridges have a sister? Yes—Lucinda. Beau is the sibling most visible in film and television, while the public record about Lucinda is more limited.
Who are Jeff Bridges’ siblings?
Jeff and Beau are the surviving brothers in the family biographies; Lucinda is their younger sister. Garrett, another older brother, died as an infant before Jeff’s birth. The Hollywood Walk of Fame identifies the three siblings as Beau, Lucinda and Garrett, and a 2025 profile by El País likewise names Lucinda and notes that a fourth child died before Jeff was born.
Some biographical sources use the name Cindy for Jeff’s sister. The Hollywood Walk of Fame, AARP, the Los Angeles Times and El País use Lucinda, so Lucinda is the clearest name to use; Cindy appears to be a naming variation, not a separate sibling.
Beau Bridges: Jeff’s older brother and acting mentor
Beau Bridges, born in 1941 according to his Hollywood Walk of Fame biography, is an actor and eight years older than Jeff, the Los Angeles Times reported in a 1993 profile. With their father often occupied with work, Beau became an important mentor to Jeff. The profile recounts Beau involving Jeff in street-theater performances from a pickup truck and encouraging him to audition and pursue acting.

The Walk of Fame biography describes Beau as a surrogate father figure during their younger years. Their relationship has also been collaborative rather than competitive. At a 2014 Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences event, Jeff put it this way: “It’s not a competition. It’s like we’re on the same team.” The Academy’s account of that event reported that Beau had earned three Emmy Awards and a Grammy Award at the time; those are the awards cited in the 2014 article, not a current tally.
The brothers’ one film together
Beau and Jeff appeared together in The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989), the only film they made together, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Academy’s retrospective says the brothers drew on their personal experience to bring realism to their scenes. Director Steve Kloves cast them after seeing a snapshot of their youthful flatbed-truck acting routine—the sort of performance in which Beau had earlier involved Jeff.

Lucinda: Jeff’s younger sister
Lucinda has a quieter public profile than Beau. AARP described her as a painter in a 2014 profile, while the Los Angeles Times called her a “sometime-actress” in 1993. Those are descriptions from dated profiles; the sources provide little further detail about her career, so they do not establish her present occupation.

Garrett was another older brother. The Hollywood Walk of Fame biographies state that he died from sudden infant death syndrome on August 3, 1948; the Los Angeles Times notes that his death came two years before Jeff was born. He belongs in the count of Jeff’s siblings, but he did not live to share Jeff’s childhood.
