Those descriptions are the officials’ published comments and political characterizations. They should not be read as independent findings about Kirk’s legacy or the groups Miller referenced.
What did Vance say about unity and political extremism?
Vance said the preceding days had been difficult for the country and for people who knew Kirk, with particular hardship for Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their children. He also called for national unity, saying it could be reached only by confronting what he described as difficult truths.
In the same remarks, Vance asserted that “most of the lunatics in American politics today are proud members of the Far Left,” introducing the statement as “a statistical fact.” The White House release provides no statistic, dataset, or method supporting that assertion, so it is Vance’s political claim rather than a verified statistical finding.
