So the defensible version of the headline is not “Japan has One Piece and the rest of the world does not.” It is this: Japan is distributing the current anime through more domestic access points at once, while international viewers are more likely to have to identify the right service for their country and the specific part of the series they want.

Japan’s arrangement spreads the access points. If one service has an inconvenient interface, a delayed upload, or a catalog change, the same current arc is also listed through other domestic services. A Japanese viewer may already have Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, or one of the local anime services. The new arc can therefore fit into an existing media setup rather than requiring a search for one exclusive international destination.

What viewers outside Japan are actually facing
United States: Crunchyroll is the clearest current-arc destination
Toei Animation and Crunchyroll announced that the Elbaph Arc would stream on Crunchyroll from April 5, 2026, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand among the listed territories.
That directly contradicts the idea that Crunchyroll has no current One Piece simulcast. For a U.S. viewer seeking the current anime, Crunchyroll is the most clearly documented legal destination in the supplied announcements.
