Jane’s Addiction ended its 2024 reunion tour after singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro clashed onstage at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion on September 13. The band canceled the remaining North American dates three days later and said it would take time apart. A December 2025 statement said the four members had resolved their differences and would pursue separate musical and creative work, but it did not announce another Jane’s Addiction tour.
What happened at the Boston show?
During the September 13, 2024 concert, an altercation between Farrell and Navarro developed onstage. Crew members intervened, and the performance ended. The following scheduled show was canceled while the band responded to the incident.
The Boston concert was at Leader Bank Pavilion. Associated Press reporting on later lawsuit coverage put the audience at about 4,000 people; that figure describes the event’s scale, not a finding about what caused the confrontation.
Why did Jane’s Addiction cancel the tour?
On September 16, the band announced that it was canceling the rest of its 2024 North American dates and taking time away. The Los Angeles Times reported that 15 shows were canceled.

The public explanations came in separate statements:
- Band announcement: “The band has made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group.”
- Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins: They cited concerns about Farrell’s personal health and safety, as well as their own, saying those concerns left them no alternative.
- Farrell: He apologized and wrote, “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
Those statements establish why the members said they were stopping the tour at the time. They do not, by themselves, settle every disputed account of the events behind the fight.

What explanations did the members give?
The other three members’ account
Navarro, Avery and Perkins described the situation as a safety and performance problem. Their joint statement framed the decision as necessary to protect Farrell and the other musicians.

Farrell acknowledged losing control and accepted responsibility for his conduct in his September apology. His wife separately offered an explanation involving stage volume and mounting tension. That explanation was her account, not an independently established finding.

What remains disputed
In July 2025, the Associated Press reported competing lawsuits: Navarro, Avery and Perkins sued Farrell, while Farrell and his wife sued the three bandmates. The filings present conflicting allegations about the tour, backstage circumstances and the altercation. The cited reporting did not establish a court ruling, so allegations about intoxication, mental health, backstage behavior or individual responsibility should not be treated as proven facts.

Did Jane’s Addiction break up?
The September 2024 announcement described a hiatus rather than a formal permanent breakup. The December 18, 2025 statement then said the members had resolved their differences “one last time” so the legacy of Jane’s Addiction would remain the work they created together, while pursuing separate musical and creative endeavors.

That wording indicates that the members were no longer presenting a shared touring plan. It does not confirm a new reunion, replacement dates or a permanent legal dissolution of the band.
What did Perry Farrell say afterward?
Farrell apologized both when the tour was canceled and in the later December 2025 statement. His later apology said: “I’ve reflected on it and know I didn’t handle myself the way I should have. I apologise to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.”

Where does this leave the band?
Based on the December 2025 statement, Jane’s Addiction’s members had publicly moved toward separate projects after resolving their differences. No future Jane’s Addiction tour schedule was included, so fans should not read the statement as a reunion announcement.
