In January 2025, reports indicated that T-Mobile had begun linking Hulu accounts for some customers who redeemed the company’s 12-month Hulu with ads promotion in January 2024. The change meant Hulu could show T-Mobile as the billing provider instead of charging the customer directly. It was not a new ad-free subscription, and it did not prove that every older T-Mobile plan qualified.
What changed
T-Mobile announced Hulu “On Us” for Go5G Next customers on January 3, 2024. The original offer used a promotional code and provided Hulu with ads for 12 months, subject to the offer terms and maintenance of a qualifying line. T-Mobile’s announcement described Hulu as part of the Go5G Next entertainment package.
Many customers reported that the initial activation did not transition cleanly. Their Hulu promotion could still show an approaching expiration date even though T-Mobile had indicated that Hulu should become part of the account’s benefits. In January 2025, customer reports and coverage from The Mobile Report indicated that previously redeemed accounts were beginning to link automatically, apparently using the original promotional code.
That “fix” describes a billing update: an existing Hulu account was being associated with T-Mobile. It does not mean every customer received a new code, a permanent benefit, or Hulu without ads.

Who “grandfathered” referred to
Here, “grandfathered” did not mean every customer with an old, discounted, or long-standing T-Mobile plan. Reports described a narrower transition group whose earlier plan or streaming benefits preserved eligibility. In particular, coverage identified customers who had a qualifying Netflix benefit—such as Netflix Standard or higher—before January 2024, as well as some customers who had already redeemed the first Hulu promotion. Eligibility is account-specific. A legacy customer who never redeemed the original offer may need to activate Hulu through T-Mobile, while another customer on an older plan may see no Hulu entitlement at all.

Which situation describes you?
Current qualifying plan
T-Mobile’s current public instructions reference qualifying Experience Beyond and Go5G Next plans. Sign in to T-Mobile or T-Life, open the plan-management area, choose See plans or Manage Add-ons, select Hulu ON US, and complete activation. Labels can vary by app version, account type, and plan. Check the current offer at T-Mobile’s Hulu page.
Legacy customer who redeemed the 2024 code
Sign in to the same Hulu account used for the original redemption. The expected change is that Hulu lists T-Mobile as the billing provider. Do not create a second Hulu account simply because the old 12-month expiration date remains visible.

Legacy customer who never redeemed the code
Check the T-Mobile benefits or add-ons area. If Hulu appears, activate it there rather than starting a separate direct Hulu subscription. If it does not appear, support must verify whether your account has the specific transition entitlement; general customer tenure is not enough.
Customer already paying Hulu directly
Check whether T-Mobile can attach the benefit to that existing account. Do not change Hulu tiers while investigating, and review the next scheduled charge before assuming coverage has started.

How to verify that T-Mobile is paying
- Sign in to the Hulu account used for the original T-Mobile promotion.
- Open the account, subscription, or billing section.
- Look for wording that says Hulu is billed through T-Mobile or identifies T-Mobile as the payment method.
- Check whether a future Hulu charge or renewal date is still scheduled.
- Compare the Hulu email address with the T-Mobile account that redeemed the offer.
Being able to watch Hulu is not proof that the promotion is active; a Hulu account can remain accessible while Hulu continues to bill it directly.
If Hulu still shows a pending charge
- Confirm the email address. A different Hulu login is the most common explanation for an apparently missing benefit.
- Check T-Mobile’s benefits page. Look for Hulu “On Us” or the current equivalent in T-Life or on the website.
- Allow for synchronization. An old expiration date may reflect the original 12-month code while the replacement billing relationship is being provisioned.
- Do not switch Hulu plans. T-Mobile’s terms say changing Hulu plans after redemption can forfeit the offer.
- Check your wireless plan history. A plan upgrade or downgrade can remove a legacy entitlement or change the available streaming benefits.
- Escalate with evidence. Contact T-Mobile if T-Mobile billing still does not appear. Save the original offer, redemption confirmation, T-Mobile benefit screen, Hulu billing page, any charge or pending renewal, and the support case number.
T-Mobile controls eligibility and provisioning; Hulu controls the consumer account and billing display. Ask T-Mobile to review eligibility first, and contact Hulu for account-access or display problems. If you were charged during a period when T-Mobile should have covered the subscription, request a billing review and retain your records. Neither the available terms nor the January 2025 reports guarantee an automatic refund.

What the benefit includes—and what it does not

The 2024 rate-card terms are available at T-Mobile’s January 18, 2024 rate card. Its historical $7.99 monthly post-promotion price and $95.88 annual valuation should not be treated as current 2026 pricing.
Why older instructions may no longer match
The January 2025 reports concerned a specific transition from the 2024 promotion to T-Mobile-managed billing. T-Mobile’s current page uses different plan language and a current T-Life/account activation flow. The account shown in your T-Mobile profile is therefore the best authority for present availability, while the January 2025 reporting explains why previously redeemed customers may have seen T-Mobile appear as their billing provider after a long delay.
If you decide to leave T-Mobile, remember that Hulu may remain active after T-Mobile stops paying. Review Hulu’s billing page and cancel separately if you do not want a direct renewal. For official assistance, use T-Mobile Support; do not pay a third party to “activate” the benefit.
