Yellowstone has not been announced for Season 6. Paramount’s current catalog lists the original series through Season 5B, with 53 episodes. The franchise continues through separate shows, including Dutton Ranch and Marshals—but neither is Season 6 of the original.
Has Yellowstone Season 6 been announced?
As of October 8, 2026, no official announcement identifies a sixth season of the original Yellowstone. Paramount Global Content’s catalog lists the series as Seasons 1–5B, totaling 53 episodes, and dates Season 5B’s premiere to November 10, 2024. Paramount’s catalog is the clearest current guide to the original series’ listed run.
That describes the announcement status, not a guarantee that the story or franchise can never return. No current official source reviewed confirms a Season 6.
Why did the original series end?
Kevin Costner, who played John Dutton, said he would not continue with the show. In a June 21, 2024 report, CBS News quoted him: “I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future.” CBS described Season 5B as the show’s last. Read CBS News’ report.

Costner’s statement explains his own departure; it is not, on its own, evidence that every story in the wider Yellowstone universe has ended.
What can Yellowstone viewers watch next?
The franchise has follow-up series, but they are separate shows with their own storylines and release histories.
Dutton Ranch: Beth and Rip
Dutton Ranch follows Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Paramount announced a global premiere on Paramount+ for May 15, 2026, with two episodes at launch and a nine-episode first season. The series also airs on Paramount Network. Check Paramount+ for the series and see Paramount’s premiere announcement.
Marshals: Kayce Dutton
Marshals centers on Kayce Dutton. The Associated Press reported that it airs on CBS and streams on Paramount+. Paramount’s 2026 roundup says the series was renewed for Season 2, making it another continuing branch of the franchise—not a sixth season of Yellowstone. Read the AP’s report and check Paramount’s announcements.
